Support Pokémon are one of the original features of Pokkén Tournament DX. Before each battle, you choose a set of two Pokémon; before each round, you pick one of them, which you can call during the fight with the L button. There are eighteen sets: fifteen from the Wii U version, a new set with Decidueye, and two sets from the Battle Pass.

The three kinds of support

  • Attack: the Pokémon strikes the opponent.
  • Enemy: it hinders the opponent, slows them down, blocks their attacks or disorients them.
  • Buff: it improves your stats, heals you or fills the Synergy Gauge.

Cooldown varies: fast, normal or slow. The most powerful supports, such as Mega Rayquaza or Cresselia, can only be used once per round.

Choosing the right set

  • Against ranged fighters (Gardevoir, Gengar, Darkrai), Quagsire or Litten come in handy.
  • Against fast fighters, supports that slow them down, such as Emolga, or Croagunk.
  • For the Synergy Burst, Jirachi, Victini or Cresselia help fill the gauge faster.
  • To disrupt combos, Magikarp and Electrode.

Our article from the time, Support Pokémon, also details the damage of each ability.
