Pokémon France followed Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon from the June 2017 announcement through to the last distributions. Nearly one hundred and fifty articles, news stories and guides keep a record of it. This page presents and links them all: it is the site’s memory of these two versions.

The year of the announcement (2017)

It all began on June 6, 2017, when the Pokémon Direct announced Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon and Pokkén Tournament DX on Switch (our article from that day). Then, week after week, came Lycanroc’s Dusk Form revealed by Shigeru Ohmori, the distribution of the special Rockruff, Necrozma’s fusions confirmed by CoroCoro, the new Ultra Beasts announced during the September Nintendo Direct, and finally the announcement of Team Rainbow Rocket in early November (USUL: Team Rainbow Rocket Arrives). On November 17, the game came out worldwide (Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Is Out Today).

Before release, our writers published preview features that are still useful: The Ultra Beasts, Ride Pokémon, Differences Between the Versions, The Alola Photo Club.

The big guide of winter 2017-2018

As soon as the game was out, the section filled up with guides: the fourteen-chapter walkthrough, written between December 2017 and January 2018, the six articles on Legendary Pokémon by generation, the Pokémon League, the Z-Crystals, the TMs, the Island Challenge trials, the Totem Stickers, the Battle Tree, Festival Plaza, and a monumental article on common and rare items. In 2018 came the Alola Pokédexes island by island, then, in 2019, the post-League challengers, the Ultra Recon Squad, the worlds of the Ultra Wormhole and haircuts.

These articles from the time have been kept at their original address. The guide you are reading links them together and completes them with new pages: review, fact sheet, Ultra Wormhole, Legendary Pokémon and post-League.

Online coverage

Pokémon France also relayed the game’s online life: the Festival Plaza missions (the first of which, in November 2017, ended in failure), the Global Link competitions, the 1.1 update of December 2017, compatibility with Pokémon Bank, and distributions of Pokémon and items, from the Pikachu wearing a cap to the Shiny Poipole of September 2018. These online services closed along with those of the 3DS in April 2024.
