The complete walkthrough for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is published on Pokémon France in fourteen chapters, from your arrival on Melemele Island to Episode RR against Team Rainbow Rocket. This page is its table of contents: each chapter is placed and linked in the order of the adventure, with the trials, Grand Trials and key battles it covers. How the adventure works
Alola has no Gyms. In their place, the Island Challenge strings together trials, led by Captains and concluded by a Totem Pokémon, then one Grand Trial per island, a battle against the Kahuna. Each success earns you a Z-Crystal, which gives access to Z-Moves. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon keep this structure from Sun and Moon, but change several trials, add one (Mina’s, on Poni) and rewrite the whole second half of the story around Necrozma and the Ultra Recon Squad.

The big milestones in brief
Melemele Island (chapters 1 to 3)
The hero, freshly settled in Alola, chooses a first partner from among Rowlet, Litten and Popplio, then crosses paths with Lillie and her mysterious Cosmog. Tapu Koko entrusts the hero with a Sparkling Stone, which becomes their Z-Ring. Ilima’s trial in Verdant Cavern and the Grand Trial against Hala wrap up the first island.
Akala Island (chapters 4 to 6)
Akala is the densest island: three trials (water at Brooklet Hill, fire at Wela Volcano Park, grass in Lush Jungle) and Olivia’s Grand Trial. This is where the Ultra Recon Squad appears for the first time, alongside Mohn and Looker, and where the plot of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon starts to diverge from that of Sun and Moon.
Ula’ula Island (chapters 7 to 9)
After a stop at Aether Paradise, Ula’ula Island strings together the Electric-type trial on Mount Hokulani, the Ghost-type trial at the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart and the assault on Po Town, Team Skull’s hideout. The Grand Trial against Nanu concludes the island.
Aether Paradise and Necrozma (chapters 10 and 11)
Lillie is held by her mother, Lusamine, president of the Aether Foundation. After her rescue, the story takes a turn: on Poni Island, Necrozma bursts out of an Ultra Wormhole and fuses with Solgaleo or Lunala. The hero travels through the Ultra Wormhole to Ultra Megalopolis and faces Ultra Necrozma at the top of Megalo Tower. This battle, renowned for its difficulty, is detailed in our post-League page and in chapter 11.
Poni Island and the League (chapters 12 and 13)
The last island hosts Mina’s all-new trial and Hapu’s Grand Trial. All that remains is to climb Mount Lanakila to Alola’s brand-new Pokémon League. Its Elite Four differs from that of Sun and Moon: Molayne replaces Hala there, alongside Olivia, Acerola and Kahili. The details can be found in The USUL Pokémon League.
Episode RR (chapter 14)
After the credits, Giovanni’s Team Rainbow Rocket takes over Aether Paradise and turns it into Team Rocket’s Castle.
