Hisui has 122 requests (the game’s side quests), 28 of which were added by the “Daybreak” update. Most are favors for the villagers; they reward you with items, but also with recipes, new base camps and several Pokémon you can’t find any other way. Our older article Side Missions gives the complete list; this page sorts out the requests that really matter and explains why.

You receive them by talking to the villagers of Jubilife Village and to the clan members you meet on the map. The Arc Phone keeps track of your ongoing requests: press the Y button to view the list, then follow the markers on the map. A few requests only start after a specific rank or a main mission.

The requests that develop Jubilife Village

Several chains of requests transform the village. They take a while to unlock, but they benefit your whole playthrough: new items at the Trading Post, new fabrics, hairstyles, larger plots and extra base camps.

UnlocksRequestsWhat to do
Trading Post (Sica)23, 43, 61, 71Bring a gift to Nectarin, head of the Craftspeople: 3 Zealous Rice (No. 23), 3 Petalgae (No. 43), 3 Hardrock Salt (No. 61), then one last present (No. 71).

Tackle these requests first if you want to save time later: an extra base camp means that much less travel, and the Trading Post offers new items that spare you from hunting for certain materials. Our page on money and the economy explains what is best to buy.

Crafting recipes

A few requests give you recipes you won’t find anywhere else. The page on crafting and recipes covers them in detail, but here are the key points:

  • No. 6, Bait Mushroom First! (Gonfus): a Mushroom Bait recipe, after you bring him the ingredient he asks for.
  • No. 18, Make Me a Doll! (Ferno): the Pokéshi Doll recipe; craft one and show it to him.
  • No. 54, A Restrictive Snack (Pralin): the Contrary Snack recipe, in exchange for a rutabaga, a bait mushroom and a broth berry.
  • No. 80, The Best Recipe of All Time (Narimade): the Double Bite recipe, in exchange for 2 Hardrock Salt, 2 Plump Beans and 2 Sovereign Herbs.

The requests that earn you a Pokémon

Some requests, rather discreet ones, are the only way to obtain certain Pokémon.

  • No. 83, Snow-White Vulpix (Keoni): after talking to Keoni, look for the Alolan Vulpix hidden in the Alabaster Icelands. Keoni entrusts one to you, along with an Exp. Candy L. Our older article Getting and Evolving Alolan Vulpix adds more on this.
  • No. 66, The Legend of the Seas (Professor Laventon): in the evening, pass under the arch near the Coastlands Base Camp in the Cobalt Coastlands with a Mantyke, a Buizel and an Overqwil in your party. Manaphy and some Phione then appear at Seaside Hollow. Reward: 3 Comet Shards.
  • No. 91, In Search of Giratina (Laventon): after the battle against Volo, a shadow flies over the Cobalt Coastlands and leads you to Giratina, which you can catch. See the plates, Giratina and Arceus.
  • No. 94, The Avatars of Hisui (Zisu): once you have completed the Pokédex entries of Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus, you hand the results over to Zisu in exchange for 4 Exp. Candy L. Catching Enamorus depends on it. See the mythical Pokémon and the Forces of Nature.
  • No. 22, Strange Nocturnal Apparitions (Pitris): the quest for the 107 Wisps, which ends with the battle against Spiritomb. It is all in our page on the 107 Wisps.
  • Nos. 92 and 93: the requests for Shaymin and Darkrai, which are only available with a save file from Pokémon Sword or Shield (No. 92) and from Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl (No. 93).

The requests that give evolution items

Several Hisui evolutions require an item that only requests or space-time distortions provide. The page on Hisui evolutions tells you which Pokémon uses which item.

Balloon Popping and Shooting Practice

Gonfley offers a small skill game in each area. The further you progress, the more balloons you have to pop within the time limit, and the bigger the reward: 17 balloons in the Obsidian Fieldlands (a Rare Candy and 15 Feather Balls, request No. 15), 24 in the Cobalt Coastlands (10 Ultra Balls and a Nugget, No. 47), 30 in the Alabaster Icelands (3 Nuggets, No. 79) and 40 in the Coronet Highlands (5 Nuggets, No. 105, added by the update). Danlmil, for his part, challenges you to the target-shooting game in Jubilife Village (request No. 26): you need 10,000 points to win 15 Great Balls and a Nugget.

The update requests

Update 1.1.0 adds requests No. 95 to 122. The series of requests No. 95 to 102 tells the story of the first Massive Mass Outbreaks; it opens with Ryza and her Munchlax on Ramanas Island and ends with request No. 102, which gives the update its name. Battle challenges follow: the Oreburrow Tunnel (No. 103), the Security Corps’ secret weapon (No. 104), Adaman’s and Irida’s requests with the Origin Formes of Dialga and Palkia (Nos. 106 and 107), then fifteen Lone Path requests (Nos. 108 to 122) entrusted to you by Gared. The details are in the post-credits challenges and the “Daybreak” update.
