Beating the Elite Four and your rival is not the end of Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! The postgame offers Mewtwo, battles against Green and Red, daily rematches and above all the Pokémon Master Trainers, more than one hundred and fifty challenges to take on. Here is everything left to do.

Trace, your rival, who became Champion of the League before you.

Mewtwo and Green

Once you are Champion, you can enter Cerulean Cave, northwest of Cerulean City. Mewtwo awaits at the bottom, at level 70. It is the hardest legendary to catch: from time to time it activates a barrier that prevents you from using Berries and Balls. A mysterious Trainer is lurking in the cave: after catching Mewtwo, go back to where it was to battle Green, who was planning to catch it. Once defeated, she throws Poké Balls at you: five remain on the ground. From the next day, Green waits for you near the Cerulean City bike shop, where you can battle her once a day, with a level 66 team.

The Pokémon Master Trainers

After the League, a new kind of Trainer appears throughout the region, recognizable by their outfit and the bubble showing their favorite Pokémon. These are the Pokémon Master Trainers: there is one for every Pokémon of Kanto.

  • The battle is a one-on-one, using the same Pokémon as the Master Trainer, and without items.
  • The Master Trainer’s Pokémon is very powerful and knows unusual moves, often of the type that threatens it.
  • Some Master Trainers do not battle but ask you to show them a powerful Pokémon.
  • Each victory earns you the matching title, for example “Bulbasaur Master”, which can be displayed in-game and online.

Once all the Master Trainers are defeated, a GAME FREAK employee gives you the ultimate title; she also lets you change your title. The full list, with levels, moves and locations, is in our article The Pokémon Master Trainers.

Red, the ultimate challenge

Red, the hero of the 1996 games, only appears once you have defeated a certain number of Pokémon Master Trainers. You then battle him in front of the Indigo Plateau to earn a brand-new title. His team, all at level 85, includes several of his classic Pokémon, among them Pikachu, Snorlax and Venusaur. Beating the League again lets you find him again. Our article The Trainers Red, Blue and Green details his team.

Completing the Pokédex

The Pokédex includes the 151 Pokémon of Kanto, plus Meltan and Melmetal, and their Alolan forms. To complete it:

  • Trades with the other version for the version exclusives;
  • In-game trades, notably for the Alolan forms (In-game trades and gift Pokémon);
  • The GO Park in Fuchsia City, which receives Pokémon transferred from Pokémon GO (GO Park Complex);
  • Special appearances of rare Pokémon, which depend on Catch Combos (Special appearances).

The legendary and Mythical Pokémon are detailed on our page Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. For Shiny Pokémon, see Shiny hunting.
