Mt. Battle is the great challenge of Pokémon Colosseum: one hundred Trainers to beat in a row, split into ten sectors, at the foot of a volcano. You pass through once during the story to chase down the admin Dakim, then you can return as often as you like to earn Poké Coupons and, in Battle Mode, win Ho-Oh.
Mt. Battle in the story
At the start of the adventure, Mt. Battle is occupied by Team Cipher. The receptionist lets you in because Duking sent you. Nine battles await you in sector 1; the tenth opponent is not the Area 1 leader, but the admin Dakim, who has knocked him out. Dakim uses a Shadow Entei: bring plenty of Poké Balls. After your victory, the Area 1 leader gives you your first Time Flute, which calls Celebi to the Relic Stone to purify a Shadow Pokémon.
This part is covered in detail in chapter 4 of the walkthrough.
How Mt. Battle works
- Ten sectors of ten Trainers: the tenth is the Sector Leader. The level of the opposing Pokémon climbs from sector to sector, from roughly 15 to 60.
- A rest room at the end of each sector, with a PC and an Abra that teleports you back to the reception.
- Poké Coupons for each sector completed. Each Legendary Pokémon in your team reduces the payout by 15%.
- Leaving mid-sector earns nothing: you will start again from the first Trainer of that sector.
- The Earth Ribbon rewards Pokémon that have climbed all one hundred battles with the same team, without changing it.

Ho-Oh: the Mt. Battle 100-battle challenge
The game’s ultimate reward is won at Mt. Battle, but in Battle Mode. You must first have caught and purified all 48 Shadow Pokémon in your save. Then, in Battle Mode, Colosseum Battle, Single Player Battle, choose the Mt. Battle 100-battle challenge and win all one hundred battles. Ho-Oh, at Level 70, then joins your game.
Prepare a high-level team and held items: the last sectors line up Pokémon close to Level 60, in Single Battles. See also the Legendary Pokémon of Colosseum.
