5. From Agate Village to the Shadow Pokémon Lab

Agate Village

Go straight to Rui’s grandparents’ house. On the TV you see that the region’s police forces (whose main station is in Pyrite Town) are doing everything they can to stop the two main gangs active in the region:
– Team Snagem (partly wiped out thanks to Wes, but whose leader, Gonzap, is still at large)
– Team Cipher, which is said to be carrying out experiments to create super-powerful Shadow Pokémon… A laboratory is supposedly hidden somewhere in the region, and an imposing headquarters is said to be under construction.

This depressing news makes you want (well, the story has to go somewhere) to take a stroll around town to clear your head. To the right of the Pokémon Center, as you climb, you’ll find a girl dressed in black. She challenges you and gives you the “Perfume Box”, which lets you buy products for your Pokémon that reduce their level of Shadow corruption. Useful…

But now that you’ve learned that a secret laboratory is somewhere in Orre, as you leave town a new point appears on the map: the Shadow Pokémon Lab.

The Shadow Pokémon Lab

You can’t get inside …But when you arrive, you receive an e-mail from Duking asking you to go back to Pyrite Town.

Forgot how to read your e-mails? Very simple:
Start > Go to the P*DA > Go to the category with your name > Read the yellow letters.

=> Once you’ve read the e-mail, go back to Pyrite Town

Pyrite Town

Go into Duking’s house (the one with a big purple G on it). Go behind the bookcase, into the secret room, and talk to all the children. They tell you that a spy network made up entirely of children is hidden underground.

Go to the police station, to the back room (with 2 prisoners in the cell), where there’s a key. Take it, then enter the cell of the two prisoners. One of them (the one who’s asleep) gives you the key to the elevator of the Pyrite building. (the one where Miror B.’s hideout was)

–> In the Pyrite building, poke around a bit and you’ll find the File, then use the elevator to enter an underground city, the Under. (after first beating the girl in front of the elevator)

The Under

When you arrive in the Under, you’ll find various buildings:
Shop, KID network center (guarded entrance), Herbalist, Colosseum, UFO transport system, television center, Lab <-> Pyrite Town subway station.

On arrival, a cutscene on a giant screen shows Venus, one of the Team Cipher leaders, addressing the city she rules. (soon to be deposed) Her reign fascinates but terrorizes the wicked population.

Anyway, go to the shop in the group of buildings at the bottom. Go in, cross the walkway, then in the second building go down the stairs. At the bottom you’ll find a boy named Zak. He knows the KID network and tells you to go there on his behalf. Go to the building at the top LEFT of the city and talk to the guard at the entrance. They let you in… After a long talk with the kids, you gain the ability to receive e-mails from them (great…). Leave the house to battle two female trainers who are beating up Silva, who was spying on Team Cipher’s activities. You battle them:

These two leave and you can talk to Silva through the bars of his “prison”. He gives you Disc D for the UFO (a transport system).

Go to the UFO transport, to the machine on the left (with a hologram), press A and then choose Disc D. (last tab on the right of your items, aka “Key Items”)

Once you’ve taken your little flight, enter the building on the right. 
You’re now at VENUS’s television studio, in the middle of a broadcast.

Talk to VENUS, and get ready, because she has a certain Suicune… 🙂
You may not manage to beat her, which is perfectly NORMAL!
If so, go and train in the Colosseum in Phenac City or Pyrite Town to gain some experience… Also try Mt. Battle, if you’re brave enough! 😉

If you miss Suicune (it can happen), you’ll be able to make up for it later. Either way, once she’s beaten, Venus runs off at top speed! Chase her.

She takes an elevator. Take the stairs on the right and beat all the trainers in the elevator (as if you had nothing better to do… oh well).

Once you’ve beaten all those trainers on the stairs, in a burst of realism (that’s irony, by the way) you carry on chasing Venus.

In the subway station, you see Venus steal the key to the Dark Train. She gets on the train, follow her, she comes back out! But as she flees, she drops the train key. You see something shining on the ground: it’s the key. Pick it up.

Go back into the train, go all the way to the far left of it and activate it with the key. You arrive at the Shadow Pokémon Lab station.

The Shadow Pokémon Lab

There are a few Team Cipher henchmen here. They run off and blow up part of the station, which blocks your way to the lab.
Fortunately, they drop the LAB KEY.
 Somewhere in the station, you’ll find a red box containing Disc H for the UFO in the Under. Then take the train back to the Under.

The Under

In the area where you have to use the UFO (to use your Disc), insert Disc H. You unlock a new area leading to the city’s Colosseum. Go into it, go left (at the reception desk) and take the elevator. You can now leave the city and head to the Shadow Pokémon Lab. (and don’t forget that the Under becomes accessible on the map).
