Trading with friends arrived in Pokémon TCG Pocket in January 2025. Since July 2025, it has run on Shinedust, which replaced the old Trade Tokens. Here is what you can trade, what it costs and how to save this precious resource.

Trading rules

With whom
only with your in-game friends
Principle
one card for a card of the same rarity
Limit
Trade Stamina, which recharges over time
Excluded

A trade is always between two cards of the same rarity: a ♦♦♦♦ for a ♦♦♦♦, a ★ for a ★. Each trade uses up Trade Stamina, which recharges over time or with Trade Hourglasses. Cards from the Promo series cannot be traded.

The Shinedust cost

Common cards are traded for free. Beyond that, each player spends Shinedust for the card they receive.

Earning Shinedust

Automatic

Duplicates

Every card you obtain that is already registered in your Card Dex earns Shinedust, more so the rarer it is.

Regular

Missions

Several missions, especially event ones, award Shinedust as a reward.

Exchange

The shop

The “Get Items” menu also lets you spend Shinedust on certain items. Keep it for trades first and foremost.

How to trade, step by step

  1. Add the friend using their player ID, from the friends list.
  2. Open the trade menu and choose the friend in question.
  3. Choose the card to offer from your collection.
  4. Your friend picks a card in return of the same rarity, then the trade is confirmed: the Shinedust and Trade Stamina are then deducted.
