The first part of the Expansion Pass for Pokémon Pokopia, Bubbly Basin takes Ditto beneath the surface to a sunken town waiting to be brought back to life. This guide covers everything you need to know: access requirements and learning Dive, how the town works, its 50-Pokémon Pokédex and the full list of the 36 habitats exclusive to the add-on content.

The Expansion Pass at a glance

The paid Expansion Pass for Pokémon Pokopia costs €34.99 on the Nintendo eShop (France). A single purchase unlocks all three parts as they are released. The base game is of course still required.

PartReleaseAnnounced content
Part 1: Bubbly BasinAugust 5, 2026An underwater town to develop, new Pokémon, furniture, outfits and smoothies
Part 2Late 2026Accessories for Ditto and the Pokémon, new Pokémon and brand-new furniture, with no new town
Part 32027A new area to explore and renovate

Two bonuses come with the purchase of the pass:

  • “Ditto Galore” pattern: a recipe for crafting blocks and wallpaper, to be collected from the main menu (+ button), under “Downloadable Content”, then “View Item List” and “Claim”.
  • 30 rare Pokémetal ingots: for any purchase of the pass before August 31, 2027, a code is sent to the email address of the Nintendo account. It can be redeemed through Mystery Gift until Thursday, September 30, 2027, with the console connected to the internet.

Getting to Bubbly Basin: the requirements

Buying the pass is not enough: Bubbly Basin stays out of reach until you have progressed far enough in the base game. Here are the steps, in order:

  1. Install free update 2.0.0, released on the same day as the add-on content.
  2. Complete the Important Request “A Nicer Environment” in Bleak Beach.
  3. Know how to jump, a move taught by Magikarp, and know Surf, learned from Lapras.
  4. Meet Manaphy: after talking to Professor Tangrowth in Bleak Beach, surf to the small island that has appeared offshore. The Mythical Pokémon is starving: it asks for 5 pieces of seaweed, which you can find in the island’s cave, among other places. In return, it teaches Ditto Dive.
  5. Reach Bubbly Basin: Popplio then takes over and guides you to the sunken town, located north of Bleak Beach.

Dive is part of the free update, so it is available to all players, even without the pass, to explore and build underwater in the base game’s areas. Only the town of Bubbly Basin and its content are reserved for pass owners.

Developing the underwater town

Bubbly Basin follows the same principle as the other areas: an abandoned town, a level gauge to fill by creating habitats and completing Requests, and Pokémon gradually returning to settle in. The town is inspired by Cerulean City, Misty’s Gym and its surroundings, now submerged.

The town’s level goes up to 10, and the Pokémon Center can be rebuilt from level 3. The area is split into three tiers: the surface, with a few buildings poking out of the water, the seabed, which forms the main area, and the abyss. You reach the abyss through a black hole on the sea floor, and you have to follow the glowing corals and keep a light source close to you to make progress there.

The add-on content also introduces several mechanics specific to the depths:

  • Watermelons, grown underwater with the help of Pokémon that specialize in watering.
  • Bubble machines and lighting, which must be powered with electricity by Pokémon able to generate it.
  • Smoothies, a new drink made in the blender from Berries. A smoothie boosts Surf: Ditto then swims faster underwater.
  • Underwater construction: floating blocks let you build at different heights beneath the surface, all the way to submarine-shaped homes.
  • New furniture and outfits with a marine theme (ocean furniture, seashells, decorative Poké Balls…).

The 36 exclusive Bubbly Basin habitats

These habitats are built in the underwater town and use many elements specific to the add-on content: seabed grass and flowers, corals, sea moss, rock chimneys, muddy water, powered objects… As in the base game, all elements must be placed side by side, and each habitat only welcomes one Pokémon at a time.

What comes next? Parts 2 and 3

The second part of the pass is expected in late 2026. It does not add a town, but accessories for Ditto and the Pokémon to wear, new Pokémon and brand-new furniture. The third part, planned for 2027, will open a new area to explore and renovate.

Tips

  • Finish “A Nicer Environment” in Bleak Beach before anything else: without this Request, neither Dive nor Bubbly Basin is accessible.
  • Keep some seaweed on you before going to meet Manaphy: it is what it asks for in exchange for teaching you Dive.
  • Several habitats require “powered” objects (bubble machine, lantern, crate, portable stage): make sure you have Pokémon able to generate electricity.
  • The “Any Table”, “Any Lighting” and “Any Plushie” elements accept any model in the category: there is no need to look for a specific item.
  • In the abyss, always move forward with a light source and follow the glowing corals so you don’t get lost.
