In Pokémon Pokopia,
Ditto starts out knowing nothing: every move is learned from another Pokémon, most often by fulfilling its request. Here are the game’s fifteen moves, listed in the order you get them, with the teacher, the area, the unlock condition and what each one does. The guide also covers the transformations (into
Graveler or
Magnemite, for example), the cooking upgrades and the conditions for learning Dive, added by the free update of August 2026.

How moves work
Ditto can’t learn on its own: you need to attract the right Pokémon by restoring the island’s environment, then help them out. Most moves are unlocked by completing a request. There are two families:
- Active moves: Water Gun, Leafage, Cut, Rock Smash, Till, Rollout, Mimic and Magnet Rise. You select them on the move wheel (hold L, or use the directional pad) and trigger them with ZR. Each use consumes power points (PP).
- Passive moves: Splash, Strength, Surf, Water Absorb, Glide, Waterfall and Dive. They don’t appear on the wheel and work as soon as the situation calls for them (entering the water, pressing R to jump, etc.).
When your PP hit zero, active moves can’t be used: a Leppa Berry or any cooked dish will restore them.
Reference table: the 15 moves in the order you get them
The order follows the game’s progression by area: Withered Wastelands, then Bleak Beach, Rocky Ridges and Sparkling Skylands, with Magnet Rise after the story and Dive after the August 2026 update. Within an area, and between Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges, the order may vary depending on your choices: it is given as a guideline.
| No. | Move | Taught by | Area | How to unlock | Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Water Gun active | Squirtle | Withered Wastelands | From the very start of the adventure: wake Squirtle up and talk to it. | Waters a cross-shaped area (5 tiles): revives withered grass and hydrates the soil and plants. |
| 2 | Leafage active | Bulbasaur | Withered Wastelands | Request “Thirsty Grass”: water 10 patches of withered green grass with Water Gun. | Grows tall green grass, essential for creating habitats and attracting new Pokémon. |
| 3 | Cut active | Scyther | Withered Wastelands | Request “Sturdy Branches, Sharpness Restored”: give 2 sturdy branches. Scyther appears in the “Tall Grass Under a Tree” habitat. | Cuts plants and wood: a source of logs and materials. |
| 4 | Rock Smash active | Hitmonchan | Withered Wastelands | “Post-Workout Corner” habitat (punching bag + seat), then the request “Stones for Training”: give 2 stones. | Destroys crumbly rocks and some dirt blocks: essential for mining and opening up passages. |
| 5 | Till active | Drilbur | Withered Wastelands | Request “Watering Required!”: water the 8 dirt squares on the islet where Drilbur is. | Tills the soil to plant vegetables and lets you pick up flower beds. |
| 6 | Splash passive | Magikarp | Withered Wastelands | “Seaside Fishing Spot” habitat, then the request “There’s No Place Like Home”. | Lets you jump with R. Prerequisite for Dive. |
| 7 | Surf passive | Lapras | Bleak Beach | “Tropical Shoreline” habitat, then Lapras’s request (clean the grime off the beach). | Lets you travel across water with B. Prerequisite for Dive and Waterfall. |
| 8 | Mimic active | Zorua | Bleak Beach | Request “A Lovely Building Set”: craft a building set and give it to Zorua. | Takes on the appearance of an object in front of Ditto, which can keep moving. |
| 9 | Water Absorb passive | Paldean Wooper | Bleak Beach | “Marsh Tall Grass” habitat, then the request “Tomato Delivery”: give 3 tomatoes. | Sucks up a liquid (Y then ZR) and spits it out elsewhere, creating a permanent source: ponds, waterfalls. |
| 10 | Strength passive | Machoke | Rocky Ridges | “Tall Grass Training Corner” habitat, then the request “Big Cleanup”: remove the 5 stones near Machoke. | Moves heavy objects when you hold A. |
| 11 | Rollout active | Graveler | Rocky Ridges | “Moss-Covered Rock” habitat, then Machoke’s request “Graveler’s Version”. | Ditto curls into a ball at high speed and destroys obstacles when you hold ZR. |
| 12 | Glide passive | Dragonite | Sparkling Skylands | “Boat on the Water” habitat to attract Dragonite, then talk to it. | Lets you glide from one ledge to another without falling. |
| 13 | Waterfall passive | Gyarados | Sparkling Skylands | “Lit-Up Waterfall” habitat, then the request “A Bowl of Spicy Bread with Soup”: give that dish. | Lets you climb up a waterfall: while surfing, press A at its base. |
| 14 | Magnet Rise active | Magnemite | Withered Wastelands (after the story) | Complete the last Important Request, then the “Industrial Storeroom” habitat and the request “A Place Full of Magnetism”. | Lets you levitate (height set with L and R) and build on a large scale: see the transformations section. |
| 15 | Dive passive | Manaphy | Bleak Beach (offshore island) | Update 2.0.0 + Surf + Splash + the request “A Nicer Environment” in Bleak Beach, then help Manaphy. | Lets you swim underwater and reach Bubbly Basin. |

The habitats that bring the teachers
Several teachers only appear once their habitat is built. Here are the items you need to gather, with the game’s English names. Squirtle and Bulbasaur are present from the tutorial, and Manaphy is met directly on its island.
| Pokémon | Move | Habitat | Required items |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scyther | Cut | Tall Grass Under a Tree | 1 large tree, 4 green grass |
| Hitmonchan | Rock Smash | Post-Workout Corner | 1 punching bag, 1 seat |
| Magikarp | Splash | Seaside Fishing Spot | 1 fishing rod, 1 seat, 1 seawater |
| Lapras | Surf | Tropical Shoreline | 1 large palm tree, 4 bushes, 2 seawater |
| Zorua | Mimic | Refreshing Flower Bed | 4 seaside flowers |
| Paldean Wooper | Water Absorb | Marsh Tall Grass | 4 yellow grass, 2 muddy water |
| Machoke | Strength | Tall Grass Training Corner | 2 sandbags, 4 red grass |
| Graveler | Rollout | Moss-Covered Rock | 4 moss, 1 mossy rock |
| Dragonite | Glide | Boat on the Water | 1 boat, 2 duckweed squares, 2 bodies of water, 1 high-altitude spot |
| Gyarados | Waterfall | Lit-Up Waterfall | 3 stone paths, 2 lit torches, 3 bodies of water, 1 waterfall |
| Magnemite | Magnet Rise | Industrial Storeroom | 1 lit streetlamp, 1 control panel, 1 barrel, 1 tangled cables |
Ditto’s transformations
Some moves change Ditto’s appearance. The official site highlights it: while exploring, you can discover “how to transform into Graveler or Magnemite.”
- Graveler (Rollout): Ditto takes the shape of a boulder rolling at full speed. While rolling, it can also smash rocks: the move then draws on the Rock Smash gauge.
- Magnemite (Magnet Rise): this is the most versatile transformation. It lets you fly freely, place or replace up to 9 blocks at once (horizontally or vertically) and pick up almost any object in a single action, including ones the other moves can’t pick up. It consumes PP.
- Mimic: Ditto blends into any object placed in front of it while still being able to move.
- Lapras and Dragonite: the official visuals show Ditto looking like Lapras with Surf and like Dragonite with Glide.

A smoothie boosts Surf: Ditto then swims underwater in the form of Lapras, much faster, and can break large areas of blocks. Smoothies are part of the Bubbly Basin Expansion Pass content.
Move upgrades
By eating certain dishes, four active moves gain new effects. The upgrade lasts as long as the yellow PP bar isn’t empty; during that time, the move doesn’t draw on the other moves’ blue PP. This feature is unlocked in Rocky Ridges by helping
Chef Dente: his requests “A Salad, Please!”, “Fresh Bread!” and “A Burger Done Right!” give you the corresponding cooking methods. The soup pot is found in Rocky Ridges’ volcano.
| Move | Dish | Required utensil and ingredient | Upgraded effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leafage | Salad | Cutting board + leaf | Grows grass on harder surfaces, as well as moss. While holding ZR: 5 grass in a cross. |
| Cut | Bread | Bread oven + wheat | Destroys metal objects. While holding ZR: a blade of wind that cuts in a straight line. |
| Rock Smash | Burger | Frying pan + bean | Breaks harder blocks in fewer hits. Potato burgers and loaded burgers are even more effective. |
| Water Gun | Soup | Pot + fresh water | While holding ZR: the watered area expands by one tile in every direction. |
Any dish also restores all your PP: cooking before a long expedition is therefore doubly useful.
Dive: the requirements (free update of August 2026)
Dive arrived with the free 2.0.0 update of August 5, 2026. It is available to all players: the Expansion Pass isn’t needed to learn it, but it is required to reach Bubbly Basin (part 1 of the pass). It isn’t unlocked automatically: the official site requires you to have completed the request “A Nicer Environment” in Bleak Beach, to be able to jump and to know Surf.
Prerequisites
- Update the game to version 2.0.0.
- Have unlocked Bleak Beach and completed the Important Request “A Nicer Environment” (reach Environment Level 5 in the area).
- Know Splash (from Magikarp) so you can jump.
- Know Surf (from Lapras).
Walkthrough
- In Bleak Beach, near the Pokémon Center, talk to
Professor Tangrowth: he points out a new small island offshore. - Reach it with Surf and approach Manaphy, who is weakened: it asks for 5 seaweed, which you can find on the island and near the shore.
- Give it the seaweed: Manaphy immediately teaches Dive to Ditto. There is nothing to equip or select.
- Explore the small cave nearby, dive to retrieve the treasure, then go back to Manaphy to complete the request.

Once you’ve learned the move, hold B in the water to swim, then use L and R to change depth.
Tips
- Get into cooking early in Rocky Ridges: the four upgraded moves make gathering resources much easier.
- Don’t worry about the exact order of the teachers: if one of them is slow to show up, check their habitat, their items and the associated request in the table.
- Always keep a dish or a Leppa Berry on you to refill your PP in the middle of exploration.
- For Dive, check Splash, Surf and the request “A Nicer Environment” before looking for Manaphy.
- Once you have Magnet Rise, prefer it for building: placing 9 blocks at a time saves a huge amount of time.
