Preparation guide, to be completed at launch. It is October 3, 2026 and the event has not started yet: this page gathers the official information available. The details still unknown (full item list, lollipop prices, exact habitat requirements) will be added on October 17.

From Saturday, October 17 to Sunday, November 1, 2026, Pokémon Pokopia is holding its first Halloween event, “Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises.” Ditto tricks the residents to collect pumpkin lollipops, which can be exchanged for seasonal furniture and for the arrival of Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist.

Dates, time and requirements to take part

The event runs on the internal clock of the Nintendo Switch 2: it must show the real date, otherwise nothing is triggered. For France, that means a start at 5:00 a.m. on October 17 and an end at 4:59 a.m. on November 1.

RequirementDetails
UpdateVersion 2.0.1 installed. The number is shown on the title screen and in the game’s options from the HOME menu.
ProgressHaving completed the town’s big request, rebuilt the Pokémon Center and learned the Mimic move from Zorua, in Bleak Beach.
ClockThe console’s date and time must match the real ones.
ConnectionThe console must be connected to the Internet when launching the game the first time you play the event.
Excluded locationsThe event does not trigger on the Cloud Islands or in Bubbly Basin.

Joining the event late

You just need to meet the requirements before the end: even on November 1, the event starts. If you meet them during the event, switch towns or quit the game from the main menu to make Pumpkaboo appear.

Playing with others

  • Visit mode does not allow you to take part in the event.
  • If you play with others, talk to Pumpkaboo first to hear its explanations, before starting the session.

Attracting Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist

PokémonHow to meet it
Pumpkaboo (the Pumpkin Pokémon)It appears near the decorated Pokémon Center. Talk to it, then answer its request to become friends.
Gourgeist (Pumpkaboo’s evolution)Set up a suitable habitat using the items obtained in exchange for pumpkin lollipops.

As of now, nothing officially details what is needed for Gourgeist’s habitat. The principle is confirmed: it is the Halloween items exchanged at the Pokémon Center that make it possible. The exact recipe will be added at launch. Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist are Ghost- and Grass-type Pokémon.

Collecting pumpkin lollipops

The mechanic uses Ditto’s Mimic move.

  1. Talk to Pumpkaboo in front of the Pokémon Center and accept its request.
  2. Using Mimic, turn into a piece of furniture or an object that one of the town’s Pokémon likes.
  3. Wait for the Pokémon to come closer, then surprise it.
  4. Each successful prank earns you pumpkin lollipops.
  5. Bring them back to the Pokémon Center to exchange them.

The number of lollipops earned per prank, a possible daily limit and the item prices have not been announced: these points will be clarified at launch. As a rough guide, the game’s previous events offered a little fewer than ten themed items, which suggests the catalog will be of a similar size (a simple estimate, not confirmed).

Halloween items and furniture to exchange

The full official list has not been published. The official artwork does, however, let us identify several items offered at the Pokémon Center stall. Their French names and lollipop prices will be added at launch.

Other elements appear in the images (a large carved pumpkin, a glowing ghost, a decorative tray) without their exact nature being confirmed. The Pokémon Center itself is decked out with spider webs, pumpkins, bats and a Haunter perched on the roof.

Getting ready now

  1. Check that your game is on version 2.0.1 (title screen) and update it if necessary.
  2. Finish the town’s big request and rebuild the Pokémon Center.
  3. Learn the Mimic move from Zorua, in Bleak Beach, if you have not already.
  4. Choose a home town: the event does not start on the Cloud Islands or in Bubbly Basin.
  5. Check that your Switch 2’s clock is set to the real date and time.
  6. Plan for an Internet connection for the first launch during the event.
  7. Spot the furniture and objects your residents like: they will serve as disguises for your pranks.
  8. Free up space in town to place the upcoming Halloween items and build the habitats.

What remains after the event?

ItemStatus
Pokémon befriended during the eventThey stay in town once the event is over
Items already exchangedNot officially specified
Unspent pumpkin lollipopsNot officially specified

Nothing indicates what will happen to the exchanged items or to unused lollipops. To be safe, spend all your lollipops before November 1 at 4:59 a.m. and do not count on a second chance. This section will be updated if Nintendo or The Pokémon Company provides any clarification.

What will be added at launch

  • The full list of items, with their French names and their prices in pumpkin lollipops.
  • The recipe for Gourgeist’s habitat.
  • The number of lollipops earned per prank and the best collecting methods.
  • What happens to items and lollipops after November 1, if official information appears.

Tips

  • Do not put off the update: without version 2.0.1, Pumpkaboo does not appear.
  • If you meet the requirements along the way, switch towns or quit the game from the main menu to trigger the event.
  • The event lasts about two weeks: there is time to collect, but leave yourself some margin before the end at 4:59 a.m. on November 1.
  • See our announcement article: Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist arrive for the first Halloween event.
