In Pokémon Pokopia, the story moves forward through Important Requests : each area has its own, and completing them is how you raise your Trainer rank and open up the next stage of the journey. This guide goes through them area by area, from Withered Wastelands to Sparkling Skylands, with the requester, the objective and what each step unlocks (ability, recipe, area).
You will also find the Team Initiation Challenge, the “A Nicer Environment” request in Bleak Beach (essential for Dive and Bubbly Basin) and the post-story content. Objectives are described factually, without revealing any story scenes, guided by
Professor Tangrowth.

The Story at a Glance
The story takes place across four story-related areas, plus one creative area with no plot. In each one, the “Rebuild the Pokémon Center” request kicks things off, then one big Important Request drives your progress. Each Pokémon Center terminal tracks these objectives. Your Trainer rank goes up with every Important Request you complete, and it determines access to the last areas.
| Area | Main Important Request | Key Pokémon | What You Unlock |
|---|---|---|---|
| Withered Wastelands (starting area) | A Yawn for Rain, then A Nicer Environment | Tangrowth, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Slowpoke, Onix | Leafage, Cut, Rock Smash, access to Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges, Team Initiation Challenge |
| Bleak Beach | Wake Mosslax (big light request), then A Nicer Environment | Meowth, Piplup, Trubbish, Peakychu, Mosslax | Electricity, Surf, Mimic, Illuminate; requirement for Dive and Bubbly Basin |
| Rocky Ridges | Let’s Party!, then A Nicer Environment | Machoke, Chef Dente, DJ Rotom, Magmar | Strength, Rollout, cooking, move upgrades |
| Sparkling Skylands | Rebuild the big building (Silph Co. headquarters) | Tinkmaster, Conkeldurr, Dragonite | Glide, concrete, cable car station, end of each area’s storyline |
| Palette Town | None (creative area) | None in particular | Free building space, exclusive habitats |
Recommended order: Withered Wastelands first, then Rocky Ridges or Bleak Beach in whichever order you like (starting with Rocky Ridges unlocks cooking sooner), and finally Sparkling Skylands, which opens once you have completed the other two areas and reached a certain Trainer rank. The Team Initiation Challenge runs in parallel throughout the adventure.
A Nicer Environment: The Request You Can’t Miss in Bleak Beach
Every area has a request with this name, which asks you to raise the Environment Level to 5 and gives you an item useful for the Team Initiation Challenge in return. The one in Bleak Beach is the most important: the official site states that you must have completed it to learn Dive (free update of August 5, 2026) and to play Bubbly Basin, the first part of the Expansion Pass.
| Area | Objective | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Withered Wastelands | Reach Environment Level 5 | Confetti cannons (last step of the Team Initiation Challenge) |
| Bleak Beach | Reach Environment Level 5 (the Professor tells you what to improve at each step) | Washing machine (Team Initiation Challenge); requirement for Dive and Bubbly Basin |
| Rocky Ridges | Reach Environment Level 5 | Refrigerator (Team Initiation Challenge) |
To unlock Dive, you need to meet these conditions:
- Update the game to version 2.0.
- Complete “A Nicer Environment” in Bleak Beach (Environment Level 5).
- Be able to jump, thanks to the Splash move learned from Magikarp (“There’s No Place Like Home” request, in Withered Wastelands).
- Know the Surf move, learned from Lapras in Bleak Beach.
- Find Manaphy on the island that appears after a conversation with Tangrowth in Bleak Beach, then give it 5 seaweed: it teaches you Dive.
To raise the level, multiply your habitats, settle Pokémon into houses (their Comfy Level rises faster), lay out paths with no jumps or dry ground leading to the Pokémon Center, and chat with the residents every day. Legendary and Mythical Pokémon welcomed into an area also raise the level faster.
Withered Wastelands: Important Requests and Story Thread
Withered Wastelands serves as the tutorial area: you get Water Gun from Squirtle there, then Leafage, Cut and Rock Smash. The area’s big request, “A Yawn for Rain”, is about making it rain on a parched land, with Slowpoke’s help. The table follows the order of the main-thread requests.

Important Request: A Yawn for Rain
Objective: raise Withered Wastelands’ humidity to 100 so that Slowpoke’s yawn triggers the rain. You need to complete the requests from Slowpoke, Bulbasaur and Squirtle, then talk to Kyogre on the coast. The stackable ways to do it: create streams by breaking water blocks with Rock Smash, plant flower fields, set up a Horsea fountain (sold in the shop) and, above all, build the Rain Dance ritual spot (2 Castform with Forecast in Rain Form, a wooden plate and a berry placed on it). To reach Kyogre, repair the pier on Slowpoke’s beach. Once the rain has come, free Onix in the cave.
| Request | Requester | Objective | Reward or Unlock |
|---|---|---|---|
| A Yawn for Rain (Important Request) | Tangrowth | Complete the requests from Slowpoke, Bulbasaur and Squirtle to increase humidity, then talk to Kyogre | Rain falls on Withered Wastelands, Onix is freed |

| There’s No Place Like Home | Magikarp | Create the seaside fishing spot habitat | Splash move (jump) |
Once the rain request is done, Withered Wastelands opens the way to Rocky Ridges and Bleak Beach, in whichever order you like.
Bleak Beach: Light, Electricity and Surf
Bleak Beach is a partly flooded, dimly lit beach. The requests there follow three threads: getting the Pokémon Center running again, helping the residents (Meowth, Piplup, Trubbish), then bringing enough light back to the area to wake Mosslax, which involves learning about electricity. The big light request, “Wake Up in There!”, is described here by its objective.

Important Request: Wake Mosslax
A strange noise leads to a cave where Mosslax sleeps, covered in moss. The request is to raise the area’s brightness to 100: you need to finish the residents’ requests, then supply electricity to the lighthouse, the streetlamps and the vending machines in town, using utility poles, wind turbines, a fire generator and a water generator. The last device, in the town center, needs a lot of power: two wood-burning generators, one of which is in the wreck offshore (a land bridge leads there). The request ends with the arrival of Raikou.

Palette Town: The Area with No Important Request
This area, called Palette Town , is inspired by Pallet Town and, unlike the others, has no Important Request : it is an almost empty plot dedicated to free building. You can get there as soon as you have learned Rock Smash, via the cycling road west of Withered Wastelands.
- Some Pokémon only appear here if you build their habitat.
- Since update 2.0, the area’s recipes are purchased by raising its Environment Level (Pokopia patch notes).
- Three special kits to find here, to be built with 15 Pokémon and lots of resources, welcome Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos.
The Team Initiation Challenge: The Request That Lasts the Whole Adventure
South of Withered Wastelands, behind rocks to break with Rock Smash, Tangrowth takes you to a strange lighthouse-shaped machine. Each step asks you to bring specific resources and earns a badge inspired by those of Kanto. The challenge spreads across the whole game: resources come from all four areas. The final step triggers the end of the game, the credits and access to post-story content.
| Step | Items to Bring | Where to Get Them | Badge |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5 Leppa Berries | Withered Wastelands trees | Gray Badge |
| 2 | 10 tins of beans, 10 tomatoes, 10 ears of wheat | Beans in Withered Wastelands, tomatoes in Bleak Beach, wheat in Rocky Ridges | Blue Badge |
| 3 | 20 pieces of wood, 5 cotton balls, 10 stacks of paper | Wood from Scyther; cotton from Mareep or Swablu; paper from a Pokémon with the Recycle specialty (Sparkling Skylands debris) | Badge |
| 4 | 40 bricks, 20 gold ingots, 50 concrete blocks | Bricks from a Pokémon with the Burn specialty; gold from Rocky Ridges; concrete from the Sparkling Skylands concrete mixer | Multicolor Badge |
| 5 | 50 units of electricity, 10 crystal fragments, 5 Tinkaton wheels | Water generators and wind turbine in Withered Wastelands (with Water Absorb); crystals from Rocky Ridges; Tinkaton wheels from Tinkmaster | Pink Badge |
| 6 | 4 industrial beds, 4 beach lamps, 4 office desks | Beach lamps in Bleak Beach; beds and desks in Sparkling Skylands (found or crafted) | Golden Badge |
| 7 | 1 refrigerator, 1 washing machine, 1 Game Boy console | Given by Level 5 in Rocky Ridges, Bleak Beach and Sparkling Skylands (“A Nicer Environment”) | Crimson Badge |
| 8 | 1 photo (any) | Taken with the in-game camera | Green Badge |
| 9 | Confetti cannons | Given by Level 5 in Withered Wastelands | End of the challenge |
As a reward, you gain access to a post-story location where you meet Magnemite, who teaches Magnet Rise, the move that lets you levitate.
After the Story: Dream Islands, Cloud Islands and Legendary Pokémon
Once the storyline and the Team Initiation Challenge are done, there is still plenty to do.
Dream Islands
After the “A Plushie to Find” request, Drifloon takes you to a Dream Island once a day in exchange for a plushie. The type of plushie determines the main resource; islands do not carry over from one day to the next. Their appeal: plenty of resources without damaging your towns, stardust and, with a bit of luck, Legendary Pokémon.
| Plushie | Dream Island | Main Resources | Possible Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plushie Eevee | Plains | Leppa Berry, vine rope | Suicune |
| Pikachu plushie | Ocean (shore) | Cloth thread, sea glass fragments, shell | Raikou |
| Plushie Clefairy | Hills | Cave mushroom, copper, limestone | – |
| Plushie Arcanine | Volcano | Iron, gold, glowing rock | Entei |
| Dragonite plushie | Sky | Paper scraps, Pokémetal, crystal fragment | Mewtwo |
Cloud Island
Cloud Islands is an online mode that requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership and the Online Play option, unlocked at the Withered Wastelands Pokémon Center terminal. You create an island there with its own progression, and up to 3 friends can join you. You keep your Pokédex, recipes, moves and Poké Life coins, but not your inventory.
Legendary and Mythical Pokémon and Challenges
| Pokémon | How to Meet Them |
|---|---|
| Mew | Collect the 27 mysterious tablets and reconstruct the mural in Withered Wastelands, near the Pokémon Center |
| Volcanion | After Rocky Ridges, hold another party and fire a firework toward the volcano |
| Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Mewtwo | Dream Islands (see table), at the back of a cave behind breakable walls |
| Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos | Palette Town special kits to rebuild |
| Ho-Oh and Lugia | Ho-Oh after welcoming Raikou, Entei and Suicune; Lugia after Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos. You need to build the unlocked kit, then ring the bell when they pass through the sky |
| Manaphy | Dive (update 2.0), then Bubbly Basin (Expansion Pass, part 1) |
Don’t forget Mosslax’s altar: once Bleak Beach is complete, placing a food item there grants a bonus depending on its flavor (Pokémon appearances, friendship, rare items…).
Bubbly Basin (Expansion Pass, Part 1)
The first part of the Expansion Pass was released on August 5, 2026. It adds the underwater town of Bubbly Basin, accessible after “A Nicer Environment” in Bleak Beach and learning Dive. Once there, progress depends on the Environment Level and on building the Sea Temple with several sea Pokémon. Part 2 is planned for late 2026, with no new town, and Part 3 for 2027.
Ongoing event: “Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises” (Halloween) runs from Saturday, October 17 to Sunday, November 1, 2026. Our dedicated article details what’s new, and Pumpkaboo makes its appearance.
Tips
- Use the Pokémon Center terminal in each area: it tracks your requests and challenges and opens the shop (kits, recipes).
- Don’t skip Withered Wastelands: the Rock Smash move opens up Palette Town and the Team Initiation Challenge.
- Two requests are named “A Nicer Environment” in the main areas, but only the one in Bleak Beach is required for Dive and Bubbly Basin.
- Some requests can bug out depending on the order of your actions (the Bleak Beach bridge, a Pokémon that disappears in Sparkling Skylands). Several of these cases have been fixed in updates; always install the latest version.
- Keep your iron and copper ingots, limestone and gold: the Team Initiation Challenge and the big building demand them in large quantities.
- Construction kit works take from a few minutes to a day of in-game time, depending on the kit. An Engineer specialty, like Tinkmaster’s, shortens construction times.
