The world of Pokémon Pokopia is full of things to uncover: lost items buried underground, records left behind by the vanished humans, tablets for the Mew mural, treasure maps in Bubbly Basin… These finds unlock rare furniture, outfits, hairstyles and reactions for Ditto, and they gradually lift the veil on what happened to the world. Here is how to find them all.

Buried items: how to find them

Buried items can’t be crafted: you have to dig them up. They hide inside blocks that glow with a golden light. Break them with Rock Smash to make their treasure drop. These blocks reappear over time, both on the surface and underground.

  • The Dowsing Machine: equip it and bring along a Pokémon with the Search specialty, such as Pidgey or Drilbur. It stands in front of the block hiding a treasure and shows you which direction to dig.
  • Smoking blocks: a block containing a large lost item sometimes starts to smoke. Quickly douse it with Water Gun, or it will explode.
  • Lucky Day: every Sunday (based on the console’s date), treasure blocks and water ripples are more numerous.
  • A boost from Mosslax: an offering with a sweet flavor to Mosslax increases your chances of finding buried items for the day.

Getting lost items appraised

Lost items only reveal their nature once you show them to Professor Tangrowth, the only Pokémon with the Appraise specialty. Large lost items become imposing pieces of furniture, often exclusive ones, like the Pikachu sofa or the Snorlax bed, and several are essential for certain habitats. Small lost items can be displayed in a frame.

Once you have a large item, the object printer at the Pokémon Center lets you make copies of it: photograph the item in object mode (Y button in photo mode), then start printing in exchange for Pokémetal ingots, with the cost depending on the item’s rarity. Spare appraised items can also be traded to Gimmighoul and Gholdengo for other rare furniture.

The mysterious mural of Withered Wastelands

Among the buried treasures are 27 mysterious tablets, the pieces of a great mural hidden in Withered Wastelands. To reach it, use Rock Smash on the wall separating the Pokémon Center area from the northern plain, then on the crumbly wall right next to the passage. Each tablet bears an Unown on its back: place it on the spot of the mural marked with the same Unown. Once a tablet is correctly placed, it can’t be moved again. When the mural is complete, a portal appears and Mew materializes.

Human Records

Letters, diaries, magazines, notes and photos: humans left behind many records, marked by a sparkle when you get close. Reading them helps Professor Tangrowth understand what happened to them, and many give a reward: an outfit, a hairstyle, a reaction or a pattern for Smearguru. Most are found in a fixed spot; the others appear at random on the Dream Islands.

The treasure maps of Bubbly Basin

The Expansion Pass adds six treasure maps, hidden in Bubbly Basin just like lost items and CDs. They show the old sunken town and the location of a treasure: each one leads to a decorative Poké Ball. With the Dowsing Machine and a Pokémon with Search, go looking for them:

MapTreasureHint
Map No. 1Decorative Great BallBehind the building west of the Pokémon Center, near the water wheel: break the wall to the east.
Map No. 2Decorative Heal BallEast of the main area, near the pagoda topped with a windmill sticking out of the water: dig while following the path to the west.
Map No. 3Decorative Dive BallNext to the old Gym: break the star rocks to find the entrance.
Map No. 4Decorative Net BallIn the cave to the north where you met Frillish: follow it to the mines, east of the giant crystal.
Map No. 5Decorative Lure BallTo the north, near the only house with a green roof: dig beneath the only patch of tall grass near the cliffs, to the west.
Map No. 6Decorative Quick BallJust north of the area’s entrance gate: follow the ruins on the left and break the wall of star rocks.

These six decorative Poké Balls are essential for the last habitat in Bubbly Basin, the Gym of the Mermaid in Shorts. Once you’ve found them, their crafting recipes appear among the shop’s offers.

Tips

  • Always keep a Search Pokémon with you when you mine: it turns random digging into a guided treasure hunt.
  • Take advantage of Sunday, Lucky Day, and a sweet offering to Mosslax to multiply your finds on the same day.
  • Have Water Gun ready when you dig: a smoking block explodes quickly.
  • Only place a tablet on the mural once you’re sure of its Unown.
  • Read every record you come across on a Dream Island: many outfits and hairstyles can only be obtained there.
