The Ultra Ball and Master Ball divisions are the last two of the Prime Cup: every opponent there is level 100, but their teams now include some very dangerous Pokémon, among them the three legendary birds, Dragonite and, in the Master Ball division, a Mew. The rules are those of the first half of the tournament: no level or species limit, eight matches per division. This page details the opponents in these two divisions in Rounds 1 and 2.

What changes

  • Each division reuses the same eight trainer classes as the previous ones, with entirely new teams.
  • The Bird Keeper becomes the sixth opponent of the Master Ball division, with Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos on the same team, in Rounds 1 and 2.
  • The final Cooltrainer of the Master Ball division brings a level 100 Mew, in Round 1 and Round 2 alike.
  • The Gambler is still around: their Pokémon know Fissure, Guillotine or Horn Drill, or play with Psywave. Look at the last column of the tables.

For the Ultra Ball and Master Ball divisions, here is how to adapt our team from the first half: keep Exeggutor, Jynx and Rhydon, swap out Starmie and Slowbro depending on the preview, and add an Ice or Rock specialist for the birds. For Rock-type attacks, Graveler and Rhyhorn are two rental options. Lapras replaces Starmie and Slowbro for Ice:

PokémonTypesLv.Rental moves
ExeggutorGrass/Psychic100Stomp, Sleep Powder, Psychic, Solar Beam
JynxIce/Psychic100Lovely Kiss, Body Slam, Ice Punch, Psychic
RhydonGround/Rock100Horn Attack, Fissure, Earthquake, Thunder
GravelerRock/Ground100Rock Slide, Metronome, Earthquake, Fire Blast
RhyhornGround/Rock100Body Slam, Fissure, Earthquake, Rock Slide
LaprasWater/Ice100Bubble Beam, Ice Beam, Mist, Sing
  • Articuno and Moltres are Flying-type: a Rock-type attack hits them for four times normal damage, and Zapdos takes double. Graveler (Rock Slide, Earthquake) and Rhyhorn (Rock Slide, Earthquake, Fissure) are the most direct rental tools.
  • Against Dragonite, a Dragon and Flying type, Ice does four times normal damage: Lapras and Jynx (Ice Punch) answer the call.
  • The opposing Mew has only four moves, including Psychic and Thunder Wave: a Ground-type Pokémon is immune to Thunder Wave, and a Psychic-type Pokémon resists Psychic.

Finishing the Poké Cup and the Prime Cup in Round 1 earns you the Dodrio GB Tower (speed x3); the Doduo GB Tower (speed x2) is unlocked as soon as either one is finished. See GB Tower.
