Pokémon XD is generous with legendary Pokémon: the three Kanto birds and Lugia, all Shadow Pokémon, plus the Johto starters as a reward. Here is where and how to get them.
XD001, the Shadow Lugia
The Pokémon at the heart of the story is caught during the final battle on Citadark Isle, just before Greevil. Purifying it is a challenge in its own right. Everything is detailed on our XD001 page.
Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres
The three legendary birds are part of Greevil’s team at the top of Citadark Isle, all at Lv. 50 and all Shadow Pokémon, along with Rhydon, Exeggutor and Tauros. You have to catch them during the battle without knocking them out. If you fail, you can rematch Greevil after the credits.

The Johto starters
Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile are the rewards for the hundred battles of Mt. Battle, once the game is finished. Each one knows a special move it can’t get any other way. See Mt. Battle.
Rare Pokémon
Salamence (held by Eldes) and Dragonite (held by Miror B) are the most powerful Shadow Pokémon apart from the legendaries. Find them all in the list of 83 Shadow Pokémon.
