Without the Snag Machine, you cannot catch a single Shadow Pokémon. This chapter takes you to the Outskirt Stand, where a Cipher deserter is hiding, then to the Team Snagem hideout to get your machine back.

The Outskirt Stand, the old locomotive of the desert.

Miror B. at the Outskirt Stand

When you arrive, the Miror Radar goes wild: Miror B. and his henchmen are here. He challenges you with three Lombre, a Shadow Nosepass (26) and a Ludicolo. Without the Snag Machine, you cannot catch the Nosepass: it is only a matter of time, since Miror B. will show up later with it (see his second chances).

Miror B., always escorted by his Ludicolo.

Volker and the Shadow Togepi

Volker, the deserter, is waiting for you at the entrance to the locomotive. He entrusts you with a Shadow Togepi that he took with him when he fled Cipher (keep a free slot in your party) and asks you to purify it. Once it is purified, you can give it back to him in exchange for an Elekid. A message from the Pokémon Network station then points you to the Team Snagem hideout, north of the Outskirt Stand.

The Snagem Hideout

As you arrive, a message from the mayor of Phenac City announces that the Realgam Tower Colosseum has reopened. Enter the hideout and battle the Team Snagem members inside, around level 25-30, all the way to the boss’s office. One last henchman steps in first, then Gonzap himself.

Defeated, Gonzap returns the Snag Machine to you. Team Snagem planned to use it to weaken Cipher and rebuild its own team; since you are taking care of that, he prefers to leave it to you. He also gives you a key that opens a chest in the basement, containing a TM.
