A little girl is looking for her missing Pokémon on the S.S. Libra, the liner stolen by Cipher. To reach it, you need a scooter that can cross the sand, and so the help of Dr. Kaminko. This chapter ends badly: Team Snagem steals your Snag Machine.
A scooter for the desert
At the Pokémon Network station, a little girl and her grandfather are looking for their Bonsly, which was traveling aboard the S.S. Libra. Nett points you to Gateon Port: an old man who used to run a shop in the underground city might be able to modify your scooter. In the Gateon Port workshop, his grandson tells you he is working with Dr. Kaminko on Pokémon robots.
Kaminko’s Mansion and the Robo-Groudon
At the entrance to Kaminko’s Mansion, Chobin takes you for a thief once again and battles you (Sunkern and Gyarados, level 25-26). Dr. Kaminko sends him to fetch his latest invention: the fountain empties, the Groudon statue sinks, and Chobin reappears at the controls of the Robo-Groudon (Sunkern, Gyarados, Hoppip and Tropius, level 26). The machine overheats after your victory. Dr. Kaminko then opens his secret lab to you, where the old man is working on a Robo-Kyogre: he takes you back to Gateon Port and turns your scooter into a hovercraft. As you leave the port, you see Mr. Verich and his bodyguards set out to sea.
The S.S. Libra
The place that appeared north of Phenac City is the S.S. Libra, stranded in the sand. To make progress, push the big crates and pick up the items along the way, including TM35 and Leftovers. On the deck, two Cipher Peons and Cipher Admin Gorigan are talking: the Shadow Pokémon are made from the Pokémon that were traveling aboard the S.S. Libra, and the work is only half done. A Cipher Peon battles you while Gorigan slips away.
A drifter who has made his home in the control room welcomes you (you can heal there) and mentions noises from the bottom of the ship. At the very end, you find the Bonsly, but it runs off as soon as you get close.
The stolen Snag Machine
As you leave the S.S. Libra, members of Team Snagem put you to sleep with a Gloom and steal your Snag Machine. You wake up at the drifter’s place, and he tells you about a strange place farther north. This is the Cipher Key Lair, a pyramid guarded by Zook, the bodybuilder you met at Gateon Port. He has beaten two members of Team Snagem and battles you in turn: his Zangoose is a Shadow Pokémon, but without the Snag Machine, you cannot catch it.
Bonsly and the Amulet Coin
Back at the Pokémon Network station, you learn that a man named Volker has escaped from Cipher and is hiding at the Outskirt Stand. The little girl advises you to approach her Bonsly slowly. On the S.S. Libra, it runs off again, frightened by a message that arrived at the wrong moment, then starts appearing at random in the Poké Spots: approach it gently to return it to its Trainer, who gives you a card for Battle Bingo. Also stop by Gateon Port for an interview: there you receive the Amulet Coin, which doubles the money earned in battle.
Next chapter: the Outskirt Stand and the Snagem Hideout.
