With the Snag Machine recovered, it is time to return to the pyramid in the north. The Cipher Key Lair is the factory where Cipher makes its Shadow Pokémon from the Pokémon of the S.S. Libra. It is the chapter with the most Shadow Pokémon in the game.

The Cipher Key Lair, the Shadow Pokémon factory.

Zook and his Zangoose

Zook is still waiting for you in front of the entrance. This time, you can catch his Shadow Zangoose (28). After the battle, two more bodybuilders block your way, but Gonzap and his henchmen arrive to put them to sleep and let you through.

Inside the pyramid

As on the S.S. Libra, you have to push crates, sometimes onto specific spots on the floor, to open the doors. Cipher Peons and researchers are everywhere, and almost all of them own a Shadow Pokémon. The central room on the first level is where the Shadow Pokémon are made. A researcher tells you that the final modifications to XD001 are complete and lets you pick up a Lever lying on the table.

Shutting down the factory

At the top of the pyramid, after several battles, use the Lever on the machine: the whole factory shuts down. A furious Cipher Peon comes out of the control room and battles you, followed by Cipher Admin Gorigan, who has not finished transforming all of the S.S. Libra’s Pokémon.

The true face of Mr. Verich

Mr. Verich then appears on the screen: he is the leader of the new Cipher, and his real name is Greevil. He challenges you to come face him on Citadark Isle, off the coast of Gateon Port. Gorigan flees, leaving the list of Shadow Pokémon on his table: 83 Pokémon were made. Added to your PDA, it lets you keep track of those that remain. On your way back down, a worker tells you that a man with a huge afro has just stolen the last Shadow Pokémon produced, a Dragonite: Miror B., of course.

Setting course for Citadark Isle

At Gateon Port, the old man from the workshop offers you his Robo-Kyogre to get to the island. Before leaving, stop by the Pokémon HQ Lab: Professor Krane gives you a Master Ball. Keep it safe for XD001.

Next chapter: Citadark Isle and XD001.
