Head to Pyrite Town, where Nett and his ONBS team are supposed to help you read the Data ROM. This is also the chapter where the Poké Spots appear, the only places in the game where you meet wild Pokémon, and where Miror B. makes his comeback.
Pyrite Town, five years later
The town has changed little. When you arrive, you run into Duking’s daughter, now a reporter, followed by her cameraman. Silva now runs the Pyrite Colosseum, and in the secret room of Duking’s house, an old lady prepares the Poké Snacks that serve as bait in the Poké Spots. Several Trainers are waiting at their usual spots: a good chance to train your team up to around level 16-17.
The ONBS station
Enter the ONBS station, on the right before the bridge leading to the Colosseum. On the first floor, help a lost little girl find her mother, on the second: she gives you a Shell Bell. Go up to Nett’s office, on the roof: he takes the Data ROM and explains that the ONBS, the former Kids Grid, exists to prevent Cipher from making a comeback. He agrees to broadcast the information.
The three Poké Spots
Nett sends you to meet Duking at the Rock Poké Spot. Duking gives you the Poké Spot Screen, built into the P★DA, and ten Poké Snacks. The principle: place a Poké Snack on the Poké Spot, come back later, and battle the wild Pokémon that came to eat it. Duking tells you about two other Poké Spots, the Oasis and the Cave. At the Oasis, he asks you to show him three rare Pokémon: Wooper, Surskit and Trapinch. Details in the Poké Spots.
Miror B. at the Cave Poké Spot
At the Cave Poké Spot, strange music blares out: Folly and Trudly, then Miror B., now a wanderer, make their entrance. He challenges you with three Lombre and a Shadow Voltorb (19). Catch it: as they flee, the trio drops the Miror Radar, which will from now on show you where Miror B. is. He will regularly reappear with Shadow Pokémon you may have missed (see Miror B. and his second chances).
The attack on the ONBS
An urgent message from the ONBS calls you back to Pyrite Town: Cipher has taken over the station. Fight your way through the Cipher Peons to Nett’s office, where squad leader Exol is threatening Nett’s sister to get the Data ROM back.
| Opponent | Team |
|---|---|
| Cipher Cmdr. Exol | Loudred (23), Girafarig (23), Shadow Mawile (22), Raichu (23) |
Once defeated, Exol reveals that the ONBS database has been wiped and hands back the Data ROM, now useless. He confirms that Cipher is behind the Libra’s disappearance and that it is going after Phenac City. Nett asks you to go and warn the mayor.
