Pokémon Lab (Part 2): The abduction
Once back, Jovi finds your mother. Meanwhile, you must pay a visit to researcher Krane, who is on the ground floor, east wing, of the Pokémon Lab.
In the room to the left of the reception, he gives you the Snag Machine, which transforms your arm. The Snag Machine lets you snag Pokémon, that is, steal Shadow Pokémon from the Trainers who own them.
It has a double purpose:
– It lets you fill your Pokédex
– It lets you defeat one of your opponent’s Pokémon.
Keep in mind that, even though it is not stated as essential, we strongly advise you to purify every Shadow Pokémon you meet. It is very important for finishing the game.
In fact, as we will see later, each time you catch a new Shadow Pokémon, make its purification your absolute priority. This will let you gradually complete your Pokédex and finish the game 100% faster, if that is what you want.
The more Shadow Pokémon you have purified, the easier the game will be and the more powerful Shadow Pokémon you will be able to catch. It is therefore an essential action.
Once you have the Snag Machine, Prof. Krane walks away. Xander, an assistant, gives you 5 Poké Balls. Very useful.
In the distance, Professor Krane is attacked. Go outside and see what is happening.
Spies dressed in white armor are leading Professor Krane to “his new lab”. In reality, they are abducting him.
A battle begins between you and one of these spies.
During the battle, your Shadow Pokémon detector spots a Shadow Teddiursa on the opposing side.
Throw a Poké Ball without weakening the Teddiursa. It is caught. Congratulations, you have just snagged your first Shadow Pokémon in XD!
In a rage, the spies flee and take Professor Krane away in their truck, and there is nothing you can do.
You go back inside the lab, where everyone is overwhelmed by events… except your mother, Lily, who intends to take things in hand! She decides to finish the Purifier at all costs. After all, why not?
Join your mother upstairs. One part of the Purifier is missing before it can be finished.
First step, recover the missing part: a gear for the Purifier. Your mother asks you to go to Gateon Port with your sister, Jovi.
Before you leave, Xander advises you to catch every Shadow Pokémon you meet (see, we are not the only ones telling you that! 😉 ), and gives you 2 memos about Shadow Pokémon.
Head for Gateon Port.
