Celadon City, the rainbow city, has everything a capital needs: a six-floor department store, a luxury mansion, a Game Corner… and beneath that Game Corner, Team Rocket’s headquarters. Not to mention Erika, the Grass-type Gym Leader.

🛤️From Lavender Town to Celadon City

The Saffron City guards are still blocking the city gates. From Lavender Town, follow Route 8 west and go down into the Underground Path, which runs beneath Saffron City and comes out on Route 7, at the gates of Celadon City. Twelve Trainers await you on Route 8, including two Bikers.

🏙️A tour of Celadon City

  1. The Celadon Department Store: six floors of shops (Poké Balls, TMs, evolution stones, vitamins). On the roof, vending machines sell Fresh Water, Soda Pop and Lemonade: a thirsty little girl gives you a TM for each different drink.
  2. The Celadon Mansion: on 1F, an old lady gives you Tea. It’s valuable: it’s what will convince the Saffron City guards. Take the back stairs up to the top floor: a Poké Ball on a table contains an Eevee.
  3. The restaurant: a customer gives you the Coin Case, essential for playing at the Game Corner.

Level 25. The Celadon Department Store sells the three stones that make it evolve.

  • VaporeonWater

Water Stone: a very sturdy special attacker.

  • JolteonElectric

Thunder Stone: very fast, an excellent Electric-type.

  • FlareonFire

Fire Stone: a huge physical Attack.

  • PP UpHidden on the ground at the end of a dead end east of the city, near the cuttable bush.

🎰The Game Corner

At the Game Corner, the slot machines let you win coins. In the neighboring building, you can exchange them for items and Pokémon you can’t find anywhere else. Prizes vary by version:

🚀The Rocket Hideout

At the back of the Game Corner, a Rocket Grunt stands guard in front of a poster. Defeat him, then examine the poster: a switch opens the secret staircase to the Rocket Hideout, which spans four basement floors.

  1. On B2F and B3F, arrow tiles make you slide: watch their direction carefully before you set off.
  2. On B4F, a Grunt drops the Lift Key after his defeat: it makes the hideout’s elevator work.
  3. Go back to the elevator and descend to B4F, into the closed-off section where the boss awaits you in person.

Our strategy

Onix and Rhyhorn fear Water and Grass: Water Gun or Vine Whip take care of them. Kangaskhan, at level 29, is the sturdiest: a Fighting-type Pokémon (Machoke, Mankey) or a good attacker stops it before Rage gets out of hand.

🌸Celadon City Gym

A bush blocks access to the Gym: cut it down. Inside, seven Trainers guard a flower garden. Grass-type Pokémon fear Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison and Bug.

Our strategy

Her Pokémon abuse Sleep Powder, Stun Spore and Poison Powder: bring Awakenings, Paralyze Heals and Antidotes, or Full Heals. A Fire-type Pokémon (Charmeleon, Growlithe, Vulpix) or Flying-type (Pidgeotto, Fearow) cleans house. Vileplume and Victreebel, at level 29, are the most dangerous thanks to Giga Drain, which restores their HP.
