🏛️The Viridian City Gym
Now that you are back from the Sevii Islands, the Viridian City Gym is open. The floor is covered with arrow tiles that make you slide: watch their direction before you commit. Eight Trainers, including three Cooltrainers, await you. At the back, a surprise: the Gym Leader is none other than Giovanni, the boss of Team Rocket.

All of his Pokémon know Earthquake: a Flying-type Pokémon or one with Levitate avoids it. They fear Water, Grass and Ice: Lapras with Surf and Ice Beam wreaks havoc; Rhyhorn, Ground and Rock, is even four times weak to Water and Grass. Nidoqueen and Nidoking, Poison and Ground, also fear Psychic. The second Rhyhorn, at level 50, is the toughest.

Alakazam is the most dangerous: target it first with a powerful physical attack. Rhyhorn fears Water and Grass, Gyarados fears Electric, Exeggcute fears Fire and Bug. His starter, at level 53, deserves your best Pokémon: the one with the type advantage.
🚧Route 23 and its checkpoints
Route 23 heads north, dotted with eight checkpoints: each guard checks one Badge. You will need to surf to reach some stretches. Several items are hidden among the rocks and statues.
