League Champion, but not yet a Pokémon Master. Professor Oak has a new mission for you: a much bigger Pokédex. On the Sevii Islands, Celio needs two gemstones to link Kanto to Hoenn, and Team Rocket, which you thought was disbanded, is still lurking.

📗The National Pokédex

After the credits, head to the lab in Pallet Town. If you have caught at least 60 Pokémon and visited the Sevii Islands, Professor Oak upgrades your Pokédex to the National Pokédex. From now on, your Pokémon can evolve into Johto species (Golbat becomes Crobat, Chansey can become Blissey…) and the ferry takes you farther into the archipelago.

💎The Ruby quest

Back on One Island, Celio explains his problem: for his machine to link Kanto to faraway Hoenn, he needs two stones, the Ruby and the Sapphire. The first is said to be hidden deep inside Mt. Ember.

  1. At the foot of Mt. Ember, two Rocket Grunts have just dug an entrance leading to the depths. Defeat them: one of them lets slip a password, “Goldeen need log”. Write it down, you will need it later.
  2. Enter the tunnel they dug and go down through the basement floors using Strength. On B4F, a Braille inscription gives the alphabet: the key to the archipelago’s puzzles.
  3. On B5F, the Ruby rests on a pedestal.
  4. Bring it back to Celio: he hands you the Rainbow Pass, which gives access to Islands 4 to 7.

❄️Four Island and Icefall Cave

On the Four Island dock, your rival is waiting: he came to leave his Pokémon at the Day Care. Four Island has a very special Day Care: unlike the one on Route 5, it takes care of two Pokémon, which lets you obtain Eggs. It is also the home island of Lorelei, of the Elite Four, who collects stuffed dolls there.

In the northeast of the island, Icefall Cave is the scene of a theft: Lorelei is fighting two Rocket Grunts there who are capturing Pokémon to resell them. Lend her a hand. Then search the cave: HM07 Waterfall sits on a ledge, and a slippery ice rink leads to a cove where a Never-Melt Ice and rare Pokémon are hiding.
