🍵The Tea and the guards

Go to any gatehouse around Saffron City. The thirsty guard gladly accepts the Tea from the old woman in Celadon City, then lets you through. In the city, Mr. Psychic gives you TM29 Psychic in his house.

“Oh, this Tea… it looks delicious.”

🏢Silph Co.

The tower has eleven floors, packed with Rocket Grunts and scientists, and locked doors. The key to the puzzle is on 5F: the Card Key, at the end of the south corridor. It opens every door in the tower, and its rooms hide plenty of vitamins and TMs.

  1. Climb the stairs to 5F and pick up the Card Key.
  2. Use the warp panels to move from floor to floor until you reach your rival, on 7F.
  3. After the battle, a grateful employee entrusts you with a Lapras, at level 25.
  4. Take the next warp panel to the president’s office, on 11F, where Giovanni awaits you.

Our strategy

One of the toughest battles in the game. Alakazam, fast and powerful, sweeps away Fighting and Poison Pokémon with its Psychic attacks: target it first with a physical attack (Bite, Body Slam). Pidgeot fears Electric and Ice, Gyarados fears Electric. His starter, at level 40, has reached its final stage: keep some Hyper Potions on hand.

  • LaprasNo. 25WaterIce

Given by a Silph Co. employee. Water and Ice, it can surf, learns Ice Beam and holds its own against Lance's Dragons. A must-have.

Our strategy

Psychic-type Pokémon fear Bug, Ghost and Dark. Bite (Raticate, Growlithe, Gyarados) and Crunch hurt a lot. Powerful physical attacks are effective: her Pokémon have low Defense. Alakazam, at level 43, is very fast and heals itself with Recover: a durable Snorlax or a Dark-type Pokémon will wear it down. Beware of Calm Mind, which boosts their special attacks.
