North of Viridian City lies Viridian Forest, a dense woodland full of insects and patrolled by Bug Catchers. It is also where Pikachu, the series mascot, hides for the most patient players.

🌿Route 2
Route 2 runs alongside the forest. Its eastern part, behind the shrubs, can only be reached with Cut or by coming back through Diglett’s Cave; you will meet one of Professor Oak’s aides there later. For now, enter the gatehouse at the end of the path: it opens directly onto the forest.

At the entrance, an introduction screen announces the location: another small novelty of the remake. Several items are hidden: press A facing the isolated trees.
