⛴️Boarding the S.S. Tidal

The S.S. Ticket that your father gave you after the League (step 16) opens the doors of the S.S. Tidal ferry, at the ports of Slateport City and Lilycove City.

Ruby · Sapphire

In Ruby and Sapphire, the ferry drops you off at the foot of the Battle Tower. Register three Pokémon and take on seven battles in a row; your Pokémon are healed between opponents. There are two styles: Level 50, or Open Level, where opponents adapt to the level of your Pokémon. The longer your winning streak, the tougher the opponents and the better the rewards.

Emerald

In Emerald, the ferry serves the Battle Frontier, an entire island southeast of Hoenn, near Route 130. On your first visit, the Reception Gate turns your Trainer Card into a Frontier Pass, which keeps track of your symbols, your Battle Points and one recorded battle.

📜The Frontier rules

  1. Two styles: Level 50 (opponents at level 50) or Open Level (opponents at level 60 at minimum, adjusted to your team).
  2. No two of the same Pokémon, and no two of the same held item, on a team.
  3. Banned: Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys and Eggs. The Soul Dew has no effect.
  4. Each streak of consecutive wins earns you Battle Points (BP), and a long streak makes the facility’s Brain appear.

🏟️The seven facilities and their Brains

Each facility has its own rule and its own Frontier Brain, who appears after a certain number of consecutive wins. Beat them once to earn their Silver Symbol, and a second time (further into the streak) for their Gold Symbol.
