Dug out by generations of Diglett, this long tunnel connects Vermilion City to Route 2, at the gates of Pewter City. No Trainers, no visible items: above all, it is the best place in the game to catch a Ground-type Pokémon.

🕳️A Tunnel With No Detours

The entrance is at the far west of Route 11, a few steps from Vermilion City. The cave is a single winding corridor: you can’t get lost. Along the way, you will only meet Diglett and, much more rarely, its evolution Dugtrio. At the other end, a ladder takes you up to the eastern part of Route 2, previously inaccessible.

    Very fast for a Pokémon of its level, it learns Dig at Lv. 19 and evolves into Dugtrio at Lv. 26.
