To reach Lavender Town, you have to cross Rock Tunnel, a completely dark passage beneath the mountains of Route 10. Flash isn’t mandatory… but without light, the ordeal quickly turns into a nightmare.

🥾Route 9
After cutting the bush east of Cerulean City, Route 9 runs east between cliffs. Nine Trainers, including three Hikers with Rock Pokémon, train there. Pick up TM30 Teleport, lying to the south of the route. At the end of the path, Route 10 heads south and a Pokémon Center awaits you in front of the tunnel entrance: stock up on healing.

🔦Inside Rock Tunnel
As soon as you enter, use Flash from your Pokémon’s menu: the cave lights up completely. The path alternates between B1F and B2F through a series of ladders. Fifteen Trainers (Hikers, PokéManiacs, Jr. Trainers♀) guard the passage: with Water or Grass Pokémon, the Hikers’ Geodude, Graveler and Onix go down in one hit.
