Celadon City is the largest city in Kanto: a giant department store, a luxury mansion, a restaurant, a casino… and a flowery Gym run by the gentle Erika. Set aside time (and money): there is a lot to do.

🏬The Department Store

Its five floors (1F to 5F) sell everything a Trainer could dream of. Look out especially for these counters:

  1. 2F: individual TMs (including Mega Punch, Mega Kick and Take Down) and all healing items.
  2. 4F: the evolution stones (Fire Stone, Water Stone, Thunder Stone, Leaf Stone), essential for Growlithe, Vulpix, Eevee, Pikachu, Gloom…
  3. 5F: vitamins (HP Up, Protein, Iron, Carbos, Calcium), to permanently boost your Pokémon.
  4. The rooftop: vending machines sell Fresh Water, Soda Pop and Lemonade. Buy one (you will need it to enter Saffron City) and give a drink to the thirsty little girl: she gives you a different TM for each one (TM13 Ice Beam, TM48 Rock Slide, TM49 Tri Attack).

🦊An Eevee on a Rooftop

North of the city, the Celadon Mansion hides a secret: enter through the back door, climb to the top floor, and a Poké Ball is waiting on a table. It contains an Eevee, one of the most versatile Pokémon in the game.

  • EeveeNormal

There is only one in the game: think carefully before choosing its evolution.

  • VaporeonWater

Water Stone: Vaporeon, very sturdy, with lots of HP.

  • JolteonElectric

    Thunder Stone: Jolteon, extremely fast.

  • FlareonFire

Fire Stone: Flareon, with a formidable Attack.

🍜The Restaurant and the Coin Case

In the restaurant, a customer ruined by the casino gives you his Coin Case, which lets you play the slot machines at the Rocket Game Corner. A tip: pick up the coins lying on the floor in the casino (use the Itemfinder); we will come back to it in the next step.

🌸Celadon City Gym

The Gym entrance is hidden behind a bush, to the south: a quick use of Cut and you are in a greenhouse full of Beauties, Lasses and Jr. Trainers♀. Seven of them guard Erika. Their Grass Pokémon fear Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison and Bug.

Our strategy

Erika’s Pokémon overuse Sleep Powder and Poison Powder: bring Awakenings and Antidotes, or a Full Heal. A Fire Pokémon (Charmeleon, Growlithe, Ponyta, Vulpix) or Flying Pokémon (Pidgeotto, Spearow) cleans house. Vileplume and its Petal Dance are the most dangerous: target them first.

Yellow

In Yellow, Erika’s team changes: Tangela (Lv. 30), Weepinbell and Gloom (Lv. 32), which use Stun Spore and Sleep Powder.
