Along Route 10, an abandoned power plant still crackles. Electric Pokémon running loose, explosive fake Poké Balls… and, at the very back, the legendary Zapdos.

🌊Getting to the Power Plant

Fly to the Pokémon Center on Route 10, at the entrance to the Rock Tunnel. Right next to it, a river runs west along the road: surf on it and follow the current to the entrance of the Power Plant. This step can be done as soon as you have Surf, before or after the League.

⚡Inside the Power Plant

The building is a maze of corridors. The wild Pokémon are all Electric-type: Pikachu, Raichu, Magnemite, Magneton, Voltorb and, in Red only, the rare Electabuzz. Beware of the items on the ground: some are actually Voltorb and Electrode that attack when you try to pick them up, and that love to self-destruct. A Ground-type Pokémon, immune to Electric, is the ideal companion.

🌩️Zapdos

  • ZapdosElectricFlying

Electric and Flying, level 50. It knows Thunder Shock and Drill Peck, and learns Thunder at the very next level.

Save in front of it. A Rock- or Ground-type Pokémon resists its Electric attacks (careful: since Zapdos is Flying, Ground attacks can’t hit it). Paralyze or put it to sleep, weaken it, then throw your Ultra Balls.
