A quiet little town with haunting melodies, Lavender Town lives in the shadow of Pokémon Tower, an immense graveyard where departed Pokémon rest. Rumors of ghosts are going around… and old Mr. Fuji, who looked after orphaned Pokémon, has mysteriously disappeared.
- Objective
- Discover Pokémon Tower, then head to Celadon City
- Battle
- Blue in the Tower (Lv. 20 to 25)
- Good to know
- the ghosts can’t be fought for now
- Next
- Route 8, the Underground Path and Route 7
🏚️Lavender Town
The town has no Gym and no department store, just a Pokémon Center, a Poké Mart and a few houses. In one of them, the Pokémon House, a child explains that Mr. Fuji went to Pokémon Tower and never came back. The locals talk about a ghost haunting the top floor (7F)… and about Team Rocket, which is lurking around.
👻First Visit to Pokémon Tower
You can enter the Tower right now. On 2F, Blue is paying his respects and challenges you immediately. His team has grown: an Exeggcute or a Growlithe, and even a Gyarados depending on your starter.

Gyarados is still young and doesn’t know any very powerful attack: take advantage of this to knock it out with an Electric move. Kadabra remains physically fragile. Blue’s starter, at Lv. 25, is the most serious opponent.
Higher up, the floors are overrun with Pokémon that the game simply calls “GHOST”. It is impossible to identify them, catch them or scare them off: they paralyze you with fear. There’s no point in insisting; you will need the Silph Scope, a device held by Team Rocket in Celadon City. Head back down.
🛣️Toward Celadon City: Route 8 and Route 7
Leave Lavender Town by the west. Route 8 has nine Trainers, including Super Nerds who love Poison Pokémon. The Saffron City gate to the west is still guarded by a thirsty guard: take the small house of the Underground Path, which runs beneath the city and comes out on Route 7, at the gates of Celadon City.
