Between Poké Balls, clothes, vitamins and sandwich ingredients, money disappears quickly in Paldea. Here’s how to earn it efficiently, depending on how far you’ve progressed.
During the adventure
- Defeat every Trainer you come across: each Trainer can only be battled once, but they pay far more than wild Pokémon. Gym Leaders, Team Star bosses and the Elite Four give big sums.
- Pick up items on the ground: the glowing spots are items, some of which can be sold (Nuggets, Star Pieces, Pearls…).
- Sell what you don’t need in any shop: valuables, duplicates, spare evolution items.
- Don’t waste it: cafeteria sandwiches and luxury clothes can wait.
Items worth their weight in gold
Some items have no use other than being sold: Nugget, Big Nugget, Pearl, Big Pearl, Star Piece, Comet Shard… Keep them in your bag and sell them when you need money.
A Pokémon with the Pickup Ability (like Teddiursa) can also find items after battles.
After the story: the most profitable methods
1. The Academy Ace Tournament
This is the best source of money in the game. Each victory earns a nice sum, and the random rewards include Nuggets and Big Nuggets. With a team of level 75 or higher, a tournament is over in a few minutes, and you can repeat it endlessly. See our tournament guide.
2. Pokédex milestones
The last milestones of the Paldea Pokédex (370, 380 and 390 Pokémon) reward you with Nuggets and Big Nuggets.
3. Rematches
The Team Star bosses can be battled once a day in their old bases: money and League Points every time.
Spending your money wisely
In Porto Marinada, the auction market offers lots of rare items every day, often in large quantities and at reduced prices: Silver and Gold Bottle Caps, evolution items, Poké Balls… The other bidders each have their favorite items: be patient and bid at the right moment.
