The first objective of the “Path of Legends” quest, the Stony Cliff Titan is a giant Klawf terrorizing South Province (Area Three), just east of Mesagoza. It’s the perfect fight to learn how Titan Pokémon work… and to really get to know Arven.

What is a Titan Pokémon?

Titan Pokémon are Pokémon that have grown huge and far stronger than others of their species because they feed on Herba Mystica, extremely rare seasonings with invigorating properties. Arven, a student chef at the Academy, is looking for these herbs for a reason he keeps secret at first. Since he isn’t much of a battler, he’s counting on you.

Finding Klawf

Leave Mesagoza through the east gate and enter South Province (Area Three), a region of rocky canyons and ruins. Arven has marked the Titan’s position on your map. Ordinary Klawf are common in the area, so don’t be surprised to run into several before the real one.

A two-part fight

Every battle against a Titan Pokémon follows the same pattern:

  1. First battle, solo. The Titan has an HP bar displayed at the center of the screen. Once weakened, it flees.
  2. It devours the Herba Mystica it was guarding, grows even bigger and becomes more aggressive.
  3. Second battle, with Arven. Arven joins you with one of his Pokémon. Knock the Titan out a second time to win the herb.

For this fight, Arven brings a Shellder (Water), very handy against Rock.

Klawf is a Rock type: Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground and Steel moves are super effective against it. Quaxly and Sprigatito are therefore perfect. Watch out for two things:

  • its Anger Shell ability triggers when its HP falls below half: its Attack, Special Attack and Speed rise (at the cost of its defenses). Finish it quickly at that point;
  • it knows Rock Smash, a Fighting-type move that threatens Normal and Rock Pokémon, and Rock Tomb, which slows your Pokémon down.

Rewards

Arven prepares a Sweet Herba Mystica sandwich for Koraidon / Miraidon, which regains an ability: Dash. You can now run much faster on your ride Pokémon, and knock Pokémon out of trees by charging into the trunk. You also receive the Rock Titan Badge.
