Where is the League?
The Pokémon League building is nestled at the foot of the Great Crater of Paldea, northwest of Mesagoza, at the end of a long, sunken path. It’s a large circular building whose roof, decorated like a compass, serves as the arena for the battle against the Top Champion. A Pokémon Center stands in front of the entrance.
The Champion Assessment
Becoming a Champion takes two tests:
- The interview: Rika, the examiner, asks you a few questions about your journey in the reception room.
- The practical test: four battles against the Elite Four, in the set order, then a final battle against Geeta.

Water, Grass and Ice types are the most effective. Watch out for Clodsire: its Water Absorb Ability heals it when it’s hit by a Water-type move. Use Grass, Ice or Psychic against it. Whiscash (Water/Ground) fears only one thing, Grass, but at ×4.

The youngest member of the Elite Four is formidable. Fire is the perfect weapon: it hits her whole team super effectively. Ground is tempting, but Corviknight (Flying) and Bronzong (Levitate Ability) are immune to it. Tinkaton, which Terastallizes into Steel, hits very hard with Gigaton Hammer.

Yes, he’s the very same Gym Leader from Medali, this time specializing in the Flying type. Electric, Ice and Rock are your allies. Ice wreaks havoc against Tropius and Altaria (×4). Flamigo Terastallizes into Flying and strikes with Close Combat.

Your art teacher fights with Dragons. Ice, Dragon and Fairy are effective; a Fairy-type Pokémon is also immune to Dragon-type moves. Beware of Dragalge (Poison/Dragon), which threatens your Fairy types, and Baxcalibur: its Thermal Exchange Ability makes it immune to burns and raises its Attack when it’s hit by a Fire-type move.

Geeta has no favorite type: you need an answer for each of her Pokémon.
- Kingambit (Dark/Steel) fears Fighting at ×4. Its Supreme Overlord Ability powers it up for every Pokémon on its team that has already fainted: the later you face it, the stronger it is.
- Glimmora (Rock/Poison) Terastallizes into Rock and uses Tera Blast, which takes on the Tera Type of its user. Its Toxic Debris Ability scatters Toxic Spikes when it’s hit by a physical move. Target it with Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground or Steel, preferably with special moves.
- Gogoat has the Sap Sipper Ability: it absorbs Grass-type moves.
- Avalugg has colossal Defense but low Special Defense: hit it with special Fire, Fighting, Rock or Steel moves.
The final duel: Nemona
After the League, Nemona, finally facing an opponent worthy of her, throws you the challenge she has been waiting for since the beginning, in Mesagoza. Her team is stronger than Geeta’s (level 65-66), and her starter, which has the advantage over yours, Terastallizes.
