TMs (Technical Machines) teach a move to a Pokémon. In Scarlet and Violet, they work in a new way: you craft them.

How it works

  1. Find or receive a TM: on the ground (glowing spots), or given by a Gym Leader, a boss or a character. This unlocks its recipe.
  2. Gather materials: by defeating or catching Pokémon (including with “Let’s Go!”), you obtain materials specific to each species, such as fur, scales or feathers.
  3. Earn League Points (LP): first contacts with raid crystals, Team Star rewards, Academy class work.
  4. Craft the TM at the TM Machine in a Pokémon Center, in exchange for materials and LP.

The TM Machine also works the other way around: you can trade in your surplus materials for League Points.
