Behind the beaches and the festivals, Alola rests on a rich mythology: four guardian deities who protect and punish, two celestial beasts from another world, rifts in the sky and a family broken by obsession. Here is the complete story, as Sun and Moon tell it.

At the heart of everything are the guardian deities, the Tapu: Tapu Koko for Melemele Island, Tapu Lele for Akala Island, Tapu Bulu for Ula’ula Island and Tapu Fini for Poni Island.
