With Sun and Moon, HMs are gone: no more giving up a move slot to cut a shrub or cross the sea. The Ride Pager lets you call a Pokémon that carries you anywhere, at any time. There are seven of them.

🎮How it works
- The Ride Pager is given to you by Hala after the Melemele Grand Trial, along with Tauros. The other Rides are added as the adventure goes on.
- The Y button opens the Ride menu; you can also assign four of them to the directional buttons.
- These Pokémon are not yours: they take no space in your party and do not battle.
- Your character puts on protective gear and a helmet each time.
🔁What they are for
| Ride | What it does | What it replaces |
|---|---|---|
| Gallop quickly and smash rocks | Rock Smash and the Bicycle | |
| Sniff out items hidden on the ground | The Dowsing Machine | |
| Swim and fish from the water | Surf | |
| Fly to a place you have already visited | Fly | |
| Cross rocky ground | The Rides of X and Y, such as Rhyhorn | |
| Race across the water and smash sea rocks | Part of Surf and Rock Smash; you cannot fish on it | |
| Push big boulders | Strength |
💡Good to know
- Backtrack every time you get a new Ride: Ten Carat Hill, Seaward Cave and Route 7 hide items and TMs you can only reach later. The Flyinium Z, for example, waits on an altar on Ten Carat Hill that you have to clear with Machamp.
- Tauros smashes rocks that sometimes hold Stardust and Star Pieces, which sell for a lot.
- Stoutland is also used during Mallow’s Trial, to find the ingredients.
