He always picks the starter that is at a disadvantage against yours, catches a Pichu, then evolves an Eevee into the type that gives you trouble. More than a rival, he is a travel companion, who often helps you in Double Battles.

Lillie never battles: she hates seeing Pokémon suffer. Professor Kukui’s assistant, she protects Cosmog, which she took with her when she fled Aether Paradise. You gradually discover that she is the daughter of Lusamine, the president of the Aether Foundation, and Gladion’s sister. After the rescue at Aether Paradise, she changes her outfit and her personality: determined, she takes her destiny into her own hands all the way to the Altar.

At first recruited as muscle by Team Skull, Gladion nonetheless battles alone, with Type: Null, a Pokémon he stole from the Aether Foundation to protect it. He is trying to stop his mother from using Cosmog. After the League, he entrusts a Type: Null to you.
