The Battle Royal is Alola’s star battle format: four Trainers, every one for themselves, in a square ring, to the cheers of the Battle Royal Dome crowd. A mode of its own, where opportunism counts as much as power.
🏟️The Battle Royal Dome
The Battle Royal Dome stands at the end of Royal Avenue, on Akala Island. There you fight your first Battle Royal during the story, against Gladion, Hau and the mysterious Masked Royal. Afterwards, the Dome is open at any time for battles against the computer.
📜The rules
- Four Trainers each stand in a corner of the ring: green, yellow, red or blue.
- Everyone sends out one Pokémon at a time and freely chooses a target among the three opponents.
- The battle ends as soon as one of the Trainers has no Pokémon left able to battle.
- The ranking takes into account the Pokémon you knocked out and those you have left. You can win without ever having been the strongest.
- The game shows the effectiveness of your moves against each of the three opponents.
🏆Our tips
- Finish off weakened Pokémon, whichever Trainer they belong to: every KO counts.
- Favor powerful, fast moves over slow strategies: a Battle Royal battle is short.
- Spread moves, which hit all opponents, are valuable for weakening everyone at once.
- Beware the strongest Pokémon in the ring: the others will often target it, so let them.
