🦅Route 3

Route 3 winds between the cliffs. Birds dive at you from shadows on the ground: these are the flying Pokémon, and they change depending on the version.

Sun

In Pokémon Sun, the shadows hide Rufflet, which will become Braviary at level 54. Exclusive to your version.

Moon

In Pokémon Moon, the shadows hide Vullaby, which will become Mandibuzz at level 54. Exclusive to your version.

A Breeder, east of the Ace Trainer, gives you the Soothe Bell, which speeds up friendship; Ace Trainer Chaz, once beaten, hands you a Red Card. TM83 Infestation, to the north, will only be reachable with Tauros Charge.

At the exit of the meadow, Hau is waiting for you: he passed Ilima’s Trial right after you and wants to compare your progress. His Pichu has evolved.

Our strategy

Pikachu, at level 13, paralyzes and strikes with Thunder Shock. His starter Pokémon, at level 14, remains at a disadvantage against yours.

🥊Hala’s Grand Trial

Kukui confirms what you suspected: Melemele’s Grand Trial is a battle against the Kahuna. Go back to Iki Town when you are ready. Ghost Pokémon, like the Gastly from Hau’oli Cemetery, have nothing to fear from his Fighting attacks; Flying and Psychic hit him hard.

  3. CrabrawlerNo. 15Fighting

    • Leer
    • Power-Up Punch

    Item: Fightinium Z

Our strategy

Mankey is fast and hits hard for its level. A Flying or Psychic attack takes it out quickly.
Makuhita takes a lot of punishment. Avoid facing it with a Normal, Rock or Dark Pokémon.
Crabrawler, at level 15, holds the Fightinium Z: it can use All-Out Pummeling, a Fighting-type Z-Move. Keep a Ghost or Flying Pokémon to take it, or knock it out before it can use it.

Hala gives you the Fightinium Z and a first stamp on your Island Challenge Amulet: traded Pokémon will now obey you up to level 35. Above all, he entrusts you with the Ride Pager, along with Tauros: Tauros Charge smashes rocks and lets you gallop along the roads. Professor Kukui adds TM54 False Swipe, which always leaves at least 1 HP: ideal for captures.

Lillie asks you to take her to the next island, to find out where Cosmog comes from. The boat leaves from the Hau’oli City dock.

Next step: Heahea City, Dexio and Sina.
