Festival Plaza is the multiplayer heart of Sun and Moon: a castle surrounded by stalls, where you meet other players, trade, battle and do business. Its online side closed in 2024, but it is still worth visiting, especially for local play.
🏰Access
Festival Plaza unlocks when Lillie introduces you to the Hau’oli Outskirts Pokémon Center. It opens from the menu. Sophocles, the Captain of the Electric type, explains how it works on your first visit.
🪙Festival Coins and rank
- The visitors to your Plaza have requests: answering them earns Festival Coins.
- Festival Coins raise the rank of your Festival Plaza and are spent in the shops.
- The shops offer a variety of services: lottery, dye shop, fortune-telling, haunted house, a bouncy attraction that earns effort points, food stalls that strengthen friendship, and many more. You unlock new ones by ranking up.
- In the castle, a man trades a Silver Bottle Cap for 30 shards, and a worker lets you move the shops and change the music.
🤝Trades and battles
- Locally, between two nearby consoles: trades and battles are still possible today.
- The GTS and Wonder Trade worked until the end of online play for 3DS games, in April 2024.
- Online battles, ranked or friendly, ended on the same date.
For the current state of the services, see Playing today.
