During their commercial lifetime, Sun and Moon received many gifts: Mythical Pokémon, Z-Crystals that cannot be found any other way, and Pokémon from the animated series. Here is the gist of these distributions, and what can still be obtained today.
All Internet distributions are over: online play on the 3DS consoles shut down in April 2024. Pokémon received at the time remain valid, and can travel to Pokémon HOME through Pokémon Bank for as long as it works.
The QR Scanner still works offline to register Pokémon in the Pokédex, but event codes, like the one for Magearna, required a connection.
