Some Pokémon make the adventure far more comfortable, provided you catch them at the right time. Here are the best recruits on each island, with the Sun and Moon exclusives that are worth the detour.
The criterion is simple: a Pokémon available early, that evolves at a reasonable level, and that brings a type or a move useful against the Totem Pokémon, the Kahunas and the League.
Exclusives are flagged by version. The rest is common to both games.
