Unova’s Pokémon Nursery is on Route 3, between Striaton City and Nacrene City. At first, it only trains a single Pokémon for you. After a favor in Nimbasa City, it accepts two Pokémon, and breeding begins.

🏡How it works

  • At the start, the elderly couple at the Nursery only accept a single Pokémon. It gains experience while you walk, for ₽100 plus ₽100 per level gained.
  • In Nimbasa City, you help the old man from the Nursery against Team Plasma (step 12). From then on, you can leave two Pokémon, and so get Eggs.
  • The neighboring daycare center heals your team for free.

🥚Getting Eggs

Two Pokémon of opposite genders belonging to the same Egg Group can produce an Egg. The baby is of the mother’s species, in its basic form. Ditto, found in the forest of Giant Chasm after the League, can breed with almost any Pokémon, even genderless ones: the baby is then of the other parent’s species.

The old man stands in front of the Nursery when an Egg is ready. The better the two Pokémon get along, the faster Eggs arrive: two Pokémon of the same species, from different Trainers, are the ideal pair.

🧬What the baby inherits

  • Moves: the baby can know Egg Moves learned by the father, as well as TM moves that the father knows and the baby can learn.
  • Nature: if the mother or Ditto holds an Everstone, the baby has a one in two chance of inheriting its Nature. The trade expert at the Castelia City Pokémon Center gives you one once you have traded with ten different people.
  • Hidden Ability: a female with her Hidden Ability, from the Dream World, can pass it on to her young.

⏱️Hatching faster

  • Put a Pokémon with the Flame Body or Magma Armor ability in your party: it halves the number of steps needed. Larvesta, whose Egg is given on Route 18, happens to have Flame Body.
  • Activate the Hatching Pass Power from the Entralink.
  • Ride your Bicycle along a long straight line, such as the Skyarrow Bridge or the Driftveil Drawbridge.
