Icirrus City is a village in northern Unova that lives to the rhythm of the seasons: flowery in spring, dark green in summer, orange in autumn and buried under snow in winter. Its Gym Leader, Brycen, is an action-movie actor with the build of a Shaolin monk, a master of Ice.

🏡The village

  • At the Pokémon Center, an old lady gives you TM31 Brick Break, and a collector buys your stones, nuggets and pearls above the usual price;
  • at the Pokémon Fan Club, the chairman gives you the Exp. Share if you show him a Pokémon that has gained between 25 and 49 levels since you got it (beyond that, he gives other items);
  • in the second house north of the Pokémon Center, a family hosts a quiz game;
  • in winter, the wife of a former Team Rocket member, in the house to the southeast, gives you a Rage Candy Bar.

To the south, the marsh is home to Stunfisk, a Ground and Electric flatfish hidden in the mud, Shelmet and Palpitoad. It freezes over in winter and is then no longer accessible.

🧊The slippery Gym

The Gym Guide gives you a Fresh Water at the entrance. The Gym is a multi-level skating rink: you slide without being able to stop unless a rock blocks you. Spot the trajectory before launching yourself, climb from level to level by the springboards and take on Black Belts and Battle Girls, with their Cubchoo, Cryogonal and Vanillish.

Our strategy

His three Pokémon are pure Ice: they fear Fire, Fighting, Rock and Steel. A Pignite or Emboar, a Litwick, an Excadrill or a Gurdurr gets the job done.
Cryogonal uses Aurora Beam, which lowers your Attack, and Rapid Spin. Its Special Defense is high: prefer a physical attack.
Vanillish can reflect special attacks with Mirror Shot: against it too, prefer physical moves.
Beartic (Level 39) hits very hard with Icicle Crash, which can cause flinching. Beware of Swagger, which causes confusion by doubling your Pokémon’s Attack.
Frost Breath, which Vanillish and Cryogonal know, always lands a critical hit.

Brycen hands you the Freeze Badge and TM79 Frost Breath.

As soon as you leave the Gym, you learn that Team Plasma has taken over the big tower overlooking the village. Next step: the Dragonspiral Tower.
