Opelucid City is the only city in Unova whose appearance changes depending on the version: modern and high-tech in Black, ancient in White. A local explains it to you: one shows what the city was, the other what it will become. Its Gym, guarded by two dragon heads, is the last one before the League.

🏙️The city and Drayden’s house

Before you can challenge the Gym, head to Drayden’s house, northwest of the Pokémon Center. Drayden, the mayor of the city, and his niece Iris tell you the legend of Reshiram and Zekrom. Afterwards, the Gym Leader of your version goes off to wait for you at the Gym: Drayden in Black, Iris in White. Upstairs, two people give you a Float Stone and a Ring Target.

  • in the house north of the Pokémon Center, a young woman tells you whether your first Pokémon has reached the maximum of 510 EVs;
  • to the northeast, the Battle Institute offers daily rotation battles (Black) or triple battles (White) against two Trainers;
  • in the house east of the Gym, a woman gives you a Destiny Knot.

Our strategy

All three Pokémon know Dragon Tail, which hits and then forces your Pokémon out of battle. You can’t calmly set up your boosts.
Haxorus (level 43) is the most dangerous: Dragon Dance raises its Attack and Speed. Knock it out before it uses it twice.
Ice is your best weapon: a Vanillish or Vanilluxe, a Beartic or a Cryogonal sweeps the team. Dragon-type moves work too, in both directions.
Druddigon has an Ability that hurts on contact (Drayden) or boosts the power of its moves (Iris): favor special attacks.

The Gym Leader hands you the Legend Badge, the eighth and last Badge of Unova, and TM82 Dragon Tail.

🟣The Master Ball

As you leave the Gym, Professor Juniper is waiting for you: to congratulate you on your eight Badges, she gives you the Master Ball, which catches any Pokémon without fail. Keep it safe: a roaming Pokémon is about to appear.
