The two Grunts who guarded the Tubeline Bridge are gone. The road east crosses the rainy marshes of Route 8, spans a great metal bridge above the subway and leads, via Route 9 and its giant shopping mall, to Opelucid City.

🌧️Route 8 and the Moor of Icirrus

Route 8 is a swampy path dotted with puddles and ponds. The puddles freeze in winter and hamper your movement, and the marsh where Stunfisk, Shelmet and Palpitoad live then becomes inaccessible. A Parasol Lady in the middle of the route gives you TM42 Facade; TM36 Sludge Bomb lies northeast of Pokémon Ranger Mattéo.

Our strategy

Her Stoutland knows Work Up and Retaliate, and her Musharna still puts you to sleep with Hypnosis. Her starter Pokémon has reached its final stage, at level 40. A Fighting-type Pokémon quickly deals with Stoutland.

After the battle, she gives you a Full Restore, which restores all of a Pokémon’s HP and cures its status condition.

🚇The Tubeline Bridge and Route 9

The Tubeline Bridge is a metal pedestrian bridge; the subway runs underneath. Bikers ride along it: if you run, they go twice as fast. On Route 9, Punk Guys and Bikers challenge you with their Krokorok and Scraggy. A Baseball Player near the west exit gives you TM56 Fling.

The tall grass is home to Pawniard, a sharp Dark- and Steel-type that will become Bisharp, and the Psychic-type Pokémon of your version:

Noire

In Black, Gothorita, and sometimes Gothitelle in rustling grass.

Blanche

In White, Duosion, and sometimes Reuniclus in rustling grass.

🛍️The Shopping Mall Nine

The biggest store in Unova spans three floors, with items you can’t find anywhere else in the region. It sells TM15 Hyper Beam and TM68 Giga Impact, at 90,000 Poké Dollars each. Trainers also do their shopping here and will challenge you. On the ground floor, the warehouse is later used to change Rotom’s form, thanks to its boxes of electrical appliances.

Next step: Opelucid City and its Gym.
