Striaton Gym is a chic restaurant run by three waiter brothers: Cilan, Chili and Cress, “the Trio that sorts things out”. It is the only Gym in the whole series led by three Gym Leaders. Yet you will only face one of them: the one whose type beats your starter Pokémon.

Our strategy

Both Pokémon open with Work Up, which raises their Attack and Special Attack. Do not give them time to use it twice: attack from the first turn.
Against Lillipup, your starter Pokémon does the job. It knows Bite and Helping Hand, nothing more.
Against the monkey (level 14), send out the monkey given at the Dreamyard: its type move is super effective. Watch out for Fury Swipes, which hits several times. If you neglected it, a Purrloin or a Lillipup at level 12 can also win, with Potions.

The Gym Leader gives you the Trio Badge and TM83 Work Up. New in the fifth generation: TMs no longer disappear after use. You can teach it to as many Pokémon as you like.

👩‍🔬Fennel and HM Cut

As you leave the Gym, a scientist is waiting for you: Fennel, a university friend of Professor Juniper. She takes you to her lab, in the northeast of the city, and gives you HM01 Cut, which fells small trees. In exchange, she asks you for a favor: bring back some Dream Mist, a substance that Munna spit out, from the Dreamyard.

Next stop: the Dreamyard.
