Our strategy

Alder has no favorite type, but three of his Pokémon are Bug. Volcarona (level 77), Bug and Fire, is his ace: Quiver Dance makes it uncontrollable in no time. It is four times weak to Rock: a Stone Edge or a Rock Slide settles the matter. Accelgor is extremely fast, Escavalier very sturdy (it only fears Fire, but four times over). Druddigon is weak to Ice and Dragon, Vanilluxe to Fire, Fighting, Rock and Steel, and Bouffalant to Fighting.

🛡️The Swords of Justice

The three heroes of an ancient Unova legend, each at level 42. Start with Cobalion: meeting it opens the way to the other two.

🌾Landorus and Volcarona

At the Abundant Shrine, reached from Route 14, show up with Tornadus and Thundurus in your team: Landorus appears at level 70. One of the two has to be obtained by trading with the other version. The shrine also hides TM92 Trick Room (with Surf) and TM35 Flamethrower.

At Relic Castle, a new entrance opens on the ground floor. Follow the Grunt to the maze, stop Sage Ryoku, then head to the back room: Volcarona, the sun moth, sleeps there at level 70. And on Route 18, you are given a Larvesta Egg, its pre-evolution.

🥊Rematches

  • Cheren challenges you once a day on the sixth floor of Victory Road, at level 65;
  • Bianca waits for you every weekend at the lab in Nuvema Town, at level 63 to 65;
  • Cynthia accepts one battle a day in spring, in Undella Town;
  • Shigeki Morimoto, in the GAME FREAK building in Castelia City, battles you once a day with Pokémon at level 75 to 77. His neighbor, the game’s director, hands out the Pokédex diplomas.

🕳️Challenger’s Cave

On Route 9, Challenger’s Cave finally opens. Its trainers are above level 60, its dust clouds hide Excadrill, and you can meet Riolu, Sableye, Mawile and Lickitung there. With Surf, pick up TM71 Stone Edge, a Black Belt and an Oval Stone.
