A good team is six Pokémon that cover each other, available at the right time and without relying on a trade. Here are six tested teams to beat Gold, Silver or Crystal in the best possible conditions, from New Bark Town to the summit of Mt. Silver.
All of these teams follow three rules: every member can be caught or obtained on your own (the few exceptions are flagged), it joins the team early enough to follow you through the adventure, and the team as a whole covers the types of the eight Johto Gym Leaders, the Elite Four and Red.
